Spoke cleaning? What are you guys using to remove grime and grease? I’ve had good luck with WD 45 and scotch bright pads. I have an older bike I’d like to clean the spokes.

I just cleaned a set of Z spokes with my vapor honing cabinet and turned out great but before I owned my cabinet I would use a scotch bright drill attachment and MPPL maxima.

Any abrasive on steel spokes you probably removed the zinc coating. So they will just rust now. Replace with stainless if its a rider.

Did you plate them with anything after you cleaned them up?

The customer had them zinc coated again with the nipples. I also use a corrosion inhibitor spray that works well will a clear coat as well for the budget.
