I was watching some of the mini races from the late eighties, back when I was a mini rider, and got to wondering: what happened to Simpson motocross helmets?
I remember when I was a kid they were fairly rare but all the kids I knew of that had them were fast. I remember the Arai and JT helmets were expensive (and open faced too). Even more expensive than the "$10 dollar head/ $10 helmet" Bell was.
Also, what about the quality? Were they any good?

Guess motorcycles wasn't worth it.
Their line of MX gear they offered a few years ago was fairly popular in Central Texas. But again, none of the people I knew who wore it had to pay for it. And the stuff fell apart VERY quickly.
Anyone remember the Simpson helmet that Turbo Reif wore in SX that utilized a face shield instead of goggles?
That reminds me...it's just about time to pull out my old Simpson jacket out for winter!!
The Shop
FOX Racing offered the Simpson helmets in 1980. Not a bad lid for the times.
