Howdy there!

First post, but I lurked a bit and I like how you guys operate, so I decided to sign on and ask my question.

Scenario is this:

I have a 1981 CR250 Elsinore... it's practically complete with OEM parts purchased for every conceivable part, but I am just realizing that this project is bigger than me. My 1981 Kawasaki KDX175 is proving to be a lot better (it already rides after I put a top-end on it) and I'm wanting to swap fully over to just getting the KDX running straight.

The problem is that my Elsinore is a big investment. I'm out almost $1100 already, and I'm trying to at least get 60 cents on the dollar to get it sold. Where do you guys market these bikes? I've got it completely into parts and crated right now, so I'm wondering how you guys offload a project that is so unique.

Very Respectfully,

Kyle J. Cotton

An old bike dismantled and in boxes isn't that unique, everyone has at least one. I've had a lot of luck with Mark's Vintage Swapmeet when looking for bits. No idea about selling as I'm not in America. http://www.vintagemx.us/cgi-bin/swapmeet.cgi

If this thread rides out for any length of time you may get an interested buyer just from someone reading this. Happened to me.

Kyle, +1 on Marks vintage site. Its definitely the "go to" site for selling or buying any Vintage bikes or parts. I've had tremendous success doing both on there. They also have a Facebook marketplace site that is very effective too. Craigslist is just getting sketchier and sketchier, and eBay fees are ridiculous, and Mark's site definitely caters to the demographic that you're needing to target, but ultimately its your decision. Do like a lot of guys do and post it in all 3 sites.

What you're describing should be a quite easy sell. Good Luck

If you have the original front shovel number plate your talking $300 right there. 81-83 CRs were decent for that period so I'm sure you will find a buyer. Marks's is great just like everyone has already posted.

My wife would kill me if I had another Bike in the garage, but being in pieces might make it easier to hide in plain sight. But that's very intriguing
