From the vented number plate and the expansion chamber guard I’m going to give it a 1983. First year of water cooling I think. But I might argue my own guess because I think the frames where all black in 83. The 84/85 had same expansion chamber guard but a blue frame. I think 86 had s blue motor.

84 or 85, which were the same aside from BNG if my memory is correct. 1986 was all new (shroud aside).

So we’ve narrowed it down to 84/85 as I expected. I guess more research would need to be done on the vin number but it really wouldnt matter if 84/85 is all interchangeable. Now you can parts search.

No problem. Lots of great info and knowledge here. Keep us posted on your progress. All the old Suzuki’s deserve a second chance. Best bikes ever along with Yamaha Honda and Kawasaki.😁😁😁😁

And BNG means there was a difference in graphics. From 84 to 85. Bold new graphics.

1985 had the gunmetal gray motor and gold rims.

That bike you have there is a 1984.

Call Dean at R&D in Norwalk, CA (562)-864-8218. If there is ANYTHING you would want to know about that little bike, he would know. The 84 bikes he and his Dad built for Mike Healey that year were incredible. Truth be told, any RM80 they built was incredible....
