Does anyone know the thickness of the round part of the chain adjusters and the oval shaped shims on the PDI/T&M swingarms? Also has anyone got any details of the original tensioner sold with these swingarms? I am missing all these parts. Thanks

Does the arm have PDI cast into it?
Purchased from a USA seller, as a new , never installed arm?
from minnesota
did it have the bores machined?

You might have a swingarm from the salvage sale after PDI
closed
A local dealer here had alot of PDI arms, that were purchased for
pennies on the dollar
NOT HEAT TREATED, no hardware etc
Sat for years, a person bought the arms, and sold the arms to
people without hardware, heat treat
He ran an Ad in the AHRMA mag for many issues until he sold out

Be cautious about any PDI arms
I know of 1 swingarm that blew apart after a jump

At least if you have a one in use, inspect after every ride

The dealer still has any stockpile of PDI pipes
for 80-125
at least 50 plus hanging

As for the hardware,
Ovals = die cut steel .0625 thick
chain adjusters=.125 thick washers, with a fine thread rod welded to washer
chain tensioner= basic 1.25 x .250 thick aluminum plate with .312 holes , chain wheels, spring

Send pics to Sport Wheels Jordan MN
If you get lucky and someone with ambition
reads it, they might locate some nos PDI parts
They had pallets of PDI parts, and so much mx crap from
the 70's it will boggle your mind, I was walking through the
yard recently, 50 or so watermelon crates stacked to the
top with mx engines from the 70's to early 80's
Flatbeds of bikes enter every week
Many old semi trailer stacked to the top with old dealer inventory
case after case of fenders, seats, sprockets, ignition parts
exhaust systems, they lots of Can Am parts
Rows of 83-87 Honda parts

I will contact that place and see if they have any parts for it. I would also be interested in a PDI head and fork kit

Mine was purchased in Australia from someone who got 5 in job lot from USA. It appears unfinished yes. The shock holes are bigger than 8mm but smaller than 10mm. The pivots are roughly machined to 18.75mm so i have been trying to work out what they need to be machined to. I want to make sure enough metal is left in the wall. Yes PDI cast in the top of the arm. So maybe the failures were with the arms bought from the sale/clearance and not the properly finished ones back in the day?

Is this dealer Sport Wheels that you mentioned?

You bought a PDI salvage arm if it was purchased in a lot of 5
I know who sold the parts
but I am not going to print his name
get a 2005 ahrma mag he ran ads for years in the 2005 to 2008?
Heat treating would be a great idea
Sport wheels has trailers/ buildings full of parts
When i venture to sport wheels it is usually a 3 hour minimum
to find what nos parts i need, and i have been buying parts there
since 1981

The bad- you have to find a person there that is into dirt bikes
and cares about customers and can look through the massive
amouts of Street parts mixed in

Well the guy that i would be getting the heat treating done though builds alloy swingarms and frames and is good TIG welder etc so he knows all about heat treating to T6 spec etc. I am in Aus so obviously cant visit Sport Wheels but i will email them.
I would like to know what these are machined out to to use on RM with 14mm pivot bolt. I was thinking if the spacer tube is 14x18x2, that leaves 18x24x3 for bushing/bearing and that will leave a wall thickness of around 4.75mm in the swingarm. Not sure if this is enough so i am trying to find out what the finished swingarms were machined out to in that area. With the chain adjusters, since you say they are 1/4 thick does that mean the threaded rod is 1/4 too? I did try a 8mm bolt and that does fit in those slots. I would not have a clue where to find AHRMA magazines. Thanks for your help so far.

currently these are just a rough 18.75 bore

.125-250 thick on the washers that you weld
the 8mm studs to

You will need a quality set up, to line bore the pivot hole's for the bushing's
So they are parallel with your axle slot

OK so the 8mm studs will hang off the edges of the washers then since they are narrower. Yes i know professional machinists who can bore the pivots out. I would actually prefer one of those tensioners that mount forwards like that one with the red roller. Do you know if the front cast section is solid or hollow? Does the centre spacer/pivot tube just stay exposed to the elements or was an extra alloy spacer supplied that fits over it in between the left and right pivot bushes?
