Well I'm glad to see this little beauty. This was my last year racing I owned this exact model. I had Eric Gorr Port the motor and he gave me all the carburator jetting spec's for it also. Pipe and silencer which I don't remember the brand.Lots of good memories for sure.Bike quality wasn't all that great but just ok. I would have loved to spin the real one.
In 1985 the bike was $1850.00 plus tax in NY State. The difference is 32 year's and it was completely" Brand New" back then.
Id want more than an extra 650.00 for moving it around my garage for the last 32 years. I suppose you could always just go to the kawi dealer and go buy a new 85 kx for 1800

Haha I'm loving the sarcasm. So true! Good luck finding one of these, this clean, near you, and priced right. $2500 is very fair. You could part it out for double that. It would be a major sin of course.
No doubt that this bike is well worth the price But look to see if just the power valve are available anywhere. If you find them alone would go for a small Fortune.
This price debate can go on forever. To the right guy who likes this model its a very fair price. If your not willing to pay that...

EXACTLY. I'm a sucker for any sweet, original bike from the 80's but the reality is that a 1985 KX125 really isn't all that interesting to me and if I bought it I would simply toss it up on the rack with several others. I already have 1986 and 1989 KX125s. At some point I feel I have to restrain myself!
I think the for sale ad is the legit one of the two. He just saw this picture and used it. Love it when a for sale ad says "this isn't the actual bike" when referring to a picture. Really - you don't have a phone with a camera?
because I bought it. You knuckleheads got me to the point I couldn't stop thinking about the damn thing, and it turns out it was only about 20 miles away from me. It's a pretty tight bike....not pristine, but very nice and you can tell it has low hours.
It will have a nice home next to many siblings from that era.
About 40 minutes away from me. Would love to have it but I'm not spending that much money.
Ha ha, could not resist huh.......I have the same problem......I don"t need another bike, but I"m searching craigslist continuously............I"m getting much more selective in my purchases now...a bike of that era, that clean is getting very rare. Glad it went to someone who can appreciate it.....would have been a shame for it to end up in metal milisha club
It's not for sale anymore......

Sooo, you are a Kawasaki guy now too. Now you can see that the front brake is pretty good
You will like that bike. You going to ride it a Dilla?

Here's a sample of its new friends that it is parked next to.
I might race this bike a little. It's nice, but not super, super nice to where it couldn't be ridden.
