Does anyone know who makes the best open faced helmet for MX? I know there are a couple of companies out there but I do not know these companies. I suppose really doesn't matter since I plan to only use the helmet at select races on non-hill/whoop infested traccks on my 76 cr125. Mike

Bell made the Mag 4 up until not that long ago for auto racers so you can find them sometimes on ebay.

I don't think anyone makes a real open face helmet that's meant for real moto. You can look for the older Arai's on ebay too...the ones with the bolt on chin guard...them made them up until not that long ago too. I've seen NOS ones for sale pretty often.

I ended up getting this DOT approved HJC scooter helmet...then I drilled my own holes and mounted a old school Troy Lee Visor.

You can look for the Arai MX helmet that had the bolt on face guard too. They made them until not that long ago also. I've seen some NOS ones on ebay.

Arai still make open face helmets for car racing, kinda like how the mag 4 was used, im sure it's spendy but Bell said it best "if you have a $10 head wear a $10 helmet"

Shoei makes an "RT" helmet that is used by police motor officers. The civilian model has a snap-on visor that could be replaced by any old school model visor.

I still ride street (sport-touring and big twins) with open face----my modular is too restrictive and encourages risk.... Open face keeps ya honest!

I had the original MotoStar. I remeber a time racers just couldn't deal with full coverage helmets because they suffocated from lack of air, couldn't see because the helmet blocked thier vision and they were too heavy. Roger was one of the first after he nearly died when he ran into a tree.

Damn that yellow one with the graphics would be perfect if you raced a vintage YZ. Just slap on an old visor and you're set.

Roger changed from Open Face, to Full Face after the crash, where his Suzuki's front end snapped off, at the Livermore Trans AMA,

I bought the last 2 Scott face masks from Vintage Iron years ago. I don't know why, nostalgia I guess. I used the Arai mxc for years, loved that helmet as it was the closest helmet I could find to my Electro.

Nice......always loved the hurricane style american yellow.......the original bell rt's from the 70's seem to be selling for big money on ebay nowadays?....then you Also see them going dirt cheap aswell....confusing at times?....
