Norcal top 10 could beat Socal top 10

Edited Date/Time 8/9/2012 1:22pm
In the years around 1980 There were some pretty fancy riders around Southern Cali ..But here's what I believe..Let's say that we would have had a race pitting Norcal's finest against all those Rockstars from Socal, and say we put them on equally prepped 250 CC 2 strokes..Let's call it the"MOTOCROSS de CALI". Just maybe , overall, the Norcals would outpoint them. Just sayin...Here's My Norcal guys:

Danny Chandler
Brad Lackey
Billy Grossi
Darryl Schultz
George Holland
Ricky Ryan
Tallon Vohland
Danny Turner
Don Cantaloupi
Pat Richter

Alternates:
Bobby Moore
Dave Coupe

I had fun thinking about it, Anyway,

is this only for riders around the 80's cause So Cal easily dominates if you look at the rest of the years.

especially if you look at the riders that relocated to So Cal during their Am days to run the So Cal circuit.

Man i miss the GFI days......

You're right about all time..But I'm talking about 1980..give or take a couple years, and Cali riders only. This is my game and I get to make up the rules...I'm an ex-CMC referee after all.

Good point, Bigfoot..Let's analyze the results...Take the out of state riders out of the mix and you have 5 Socal riders in the top 10..You also have 5 Norcal riders in the top 10..Now, granted the top 3 were from Socal, but not a bad showing for our guys.
1 Tripes, Socal
2Hannah, Socal
3Jennings, Socal
4 Wosick, Norcal
5Gillman,Socal
6Chandler, Norcal [must have crashed 3 times]
7Wiggins, Norcal
8Halcomb, Norcal
9McConn, Socal

Thanks Bobby,I needed someone else to stand up for the good guys..You know I have immense respect for all of the guys that Raced back in that great era but sometimes it gripes me that they don't show the proper respect for the quality riders that we turned out in and around D36..The list that I put forward included some fabulous riders with many accomplishments...World champions, National championships, Motocross de Nations, Etc,,..

And what else is happening: I forgot to include the great Bobby Myers

Where is Rick Johnson in this list? He was from El Cajon, Ca. Socal as could be.

You have just answered your own question! SoCal had the top 3.
Hey, Bigfoot...Why don't we, just for fun say that this imaginary competition is just between District 36 against District 37 riders...That would take all those fast San Diego and El Cajon riders out of it...

I remember Shawn McConn, one of the riders on the SoCal list, always out at the old Santa Clara P.A.L. track in the 80's.
Larry Wosick too. Funny how they misspelled Billy Grossi's (Gorssi) name and that he was on a "Caravela" in the newspaper clip of Saers Point results above...
