Restoring a XR75. When I did my KX I just stripped and soda blasted the cases and I was happy
For the Xr I'm thinking I need to do something different to get a factory finish
Same with the hubs and backing plates too. What do I want? Vapor blast? Or just sand blast it? Its going to be a rider not a dust collector but I would like to shoot for factory finish as possible

We used to have a wheat starch blaster that would leave a perfect finish. These are pretty rare, but I do believe the more popular soda blaster would leave pretty much the same finish.

When in doubt gas it! It may not cure the problem but it will end the suspense!

Vapor blast seems to be the best outcome....There are a few guys offering this service on some of the vintage face book pages...vintage full floater Facebook I think. I have been pretty satisfied with my harbour freight soda blaster but it's a pita....If I Had someone local to vapor blast I would use them for certain parts...
