Facing a dilemma here. Just finished up the build of my 89 CR250 a few weeks ago and now I don’t think I’ll ride it much. It’s not a 10/10 restoration but I think it’s too nice for me to destroy on the brutal sand tracks here in the north east. I’ll be vet class eligible next year and am debating selling the CR and grabbing a new YZ to race more. I honestly don’t see myself riding the Cr much unless it’s absolutely 100% conditions and all the stars align. Maybe I should pass it to someone who is a dedicated vintage racer. What do y’all think, keep or sell? I see these on east coast vintage for $3500-$3600, and I know it’s only worth what someone will pay and I’ll never get my money back, but if I could get somewhere near that I’d be tempted to sell her.

Should have no problem selling that, you did a very nice job. ....hard to estimate what it will sell for. Kids won't spend that amount of money on a vintage bike that means nothing to them.... Serious racers only want newer bikes...... Your target audience, The guys who owned & raced them when new, dont seem to want to pay anything over 2500.00 imo.

Thanks sandman. That’s kind of what I figured. It’s a tough choice. We’ll be moving in 2 years for work and my daughter will be going to a new school and everything so I’m thinking either sell it now while it’s as mint as it will ever be, or ride it a bit and take a little hit on what it’s worth. I know I’ll probably never be able to find another in the condition that I found this one in all original with very few hours. I don’t have a crazy amount of $$ invested but enough, but if you add my labor cost in we’re getting up there haha.

Anyone have any interest in the bike? Looking like my wife’s job may change before we move again in two years. I’d really like to go to someone who will ride it but not plaster it in monster stickers and totally ruin it! I can provide more info, pictures and video of it running. Would be a good rewind bike!

Nice '89 CR250 you got there Pirate! I had a nice '89 back when they were new. Bought it in early 1990 as a left over, got a great deal from the Honda dealership. It had the best all around engine I have ever ridden. Sold it for next to nothing and it was mint. Suspension was lacking, but that engine.....

Thanks hud, was a lot of work but a lot of fun. I have only had one person call on it in the last two weeks or so. Is the price in a reasonable range or just not a lot of interest for these bikes yet? Maybe it’s like a bitcoin and we’re waiting for the Evo rush to hit haha

You just need to find the right guy (or gal). The price is reasonable and I would be all over that bike if I didn't already have a few of them.

I love the 89's and like you said, you will never get back what you put into it. Just a labor of love, I personally would keep it if at all possible as you will be bummed a few years down the road after getting rid of her.

Hey Pirate421,
Agree with last poster.... your price is in the Ballpark. You have a Nice '89 CR250 there. It will sell to the right buyer. I wish I could buy it, but I have too many bikes (well according to the boss) now (5). Keep it if someone doesn't meet your price. Good luck!

Thanks for the support! Definitely won’t give it away but I really would like it to go to a good home. I don’t ride it and could use the money so hopefully someone comes through soon. I think it is definitely more than fair price ready to race. Definitely was a lot more to build it!
