ISO: Simonini 125 parts

Hey, got a simonini 125 1977-1979 7 speed enduro thats been sitting for almost 20 years now, its running and all but the airbox has gone missing, does anybody know how and where to get parts for these bikes?

Does that have a Sachs engine?
Interesting and pretty looking bike for sure. Never seen one before or heard of them.

Mine has a sachs engine yes but the one on the picture seems to have Simonini’s own engine.

Cant find any parts on eBay or anything so im guessing ill have to make a filterbox and cage from scratch

I reckon eventually you may find one on Ebay but may have to wait till something shows up and maybe costly.

As you say though it maybe possible to craft/ create one and alot cheaper.
Very cool bike with the Sachs 7 speed! Love these 1970's bikes like this- so rare and unusual.

"Lurked" on this forum for too many years..................therefore am now a New Member! Interesting thread. Had a Monark 125 ISDT Replica back in late 1970's. 6 speed Sachs fitted as standard but toyed with the idea of fitting the 7 speed when it became available. If I remember correctly it used the same mountings as the 7 speed. I think Simononi went down the route of manufacturing/fitting their own engine as the 6 speed 125cc Sachs was getting a bit "long in the tooth" and soon after they did this Sachs released the 7 speed? I don't think the bike pictured has the Sachs 7 speed, looks more like Simonini's own motor. Is it possible the bike in question has been (or was in the process of being) retro-fitted with the 7 speed Sachs? Might be a clue as to why it requires an airbox? If this is possible I think your best bet is to manufacture/mod a box as getting a "correct" airbox might be misleading". Just a thought. Anyway, always been a fan of these small Italian manufacturers ( of this time), creating interesting, stylish stuff with great passion ( check out Ancillotti etc, etc.). Years later had Moto Gori trials with 280cc Rotax disc-valve motor. Hope this is a useful first post?

The -77 i have at home has the sachs 7 speed as original, and my dad actually won a title racing 50cc Ancilottis back in the day!

The bike in the picture is a -79 i think when they stopped using Sachs as you said and moved on to using their own engines

Interesting to hear of your father winning a title on Ancillotti 50. I believe the 50 class was quite popular across Europe,
unfortunately not in the UK. Maybe it was even more popular in Sweden? Going a bit off-piste but have included pic of Monark 50 (not mine). Apparently this bike was a works entry in the 1972 Baja 1000 (or whatever it was known as then) and finished 12th motorcycle overall! Just goes to show what a "50" was capable of. Always loved that Monark colour scheme!

Simonini used Hiro motors in the late 70s and early 80s and that looks like a Hiro reed valve motor in the picture. Italy is your best chance for finding spare parts. Best wishes for finding what you are looking for!

Yeah id love to get him a 50cc for when he turns 60 (2023), anyone have a bike laying around?Laughing
The 50s are getting pretty steep at prices also!

Stefano Zoni in Parma Italy, no joke, he's the guy, I been friends with Stefano since 1999 and he's a highly respected restoration expert in Europe..

Dug it out today! Some new tires and a fitting rear fender and im ready to go, wrong colour frame but everything else is pretty mint actually

I guess you have talked to Bengt Lagerblad at Delta Racing?
They raced Simonini and might still have some parts or he knows where to look
