I'M LOOKING FOR A RUNNING OR NOT 1984 KX 500 TO BLD ON,, I HAVE SOME 89 -91 RM 250 PARTS AND MONEY OR JUST MONEY FOR IT,,,I'M IN LOS ANGELES CA.. SO IT HAS TO BE WITHIN 300 OR SO MILS AWAY..MAYBE MORE IF IT'S CLEAN...

i had a 83 what a peice of crap! ill restore one some day as i won motos on it and i got the overall the last day ever run at Pepperell mx ill look up some piks of it

Kawasaki gave Kent Howerton stock 83 models for practice bikes. He said he told Kawasaki that there was no way he could continue to practice on them and be expected to ride the SR500 on race days. They were such overweight, ill handling piles of shit.

The 84 500 i had was the fastest bike i ever put my leg over,,,, till this new 2001 cr 500 im working on is running ..it stoped,,,and it handle ok. but for flat out getting it,,In 5th it would pull the front up with me sitting on the tank,,it's all about the rider and knowing your bike,,,what it can do,,,and what it can't ... my good friend road a 81 kx 420 in the pro class out at indain dunes and smoked all theGUYS on HONDA"S and yz's like thy were on mini bikes,,,,but he was a NUTT and the bike was way fast and with the forks pulled up 1/2 of a inch turned on a dime and spit change out..and i ride the fire roads and out in the desert.so i don't need some killer MX bike like the honda,,,i just wanna bld a nice old kawai is all.

Obviously, Mr. Howerton never had the pleasure of riding a `75 MX400 Yamaha. Great bike on flat straight ground but even a Vintage friendly track would have me feeling worse than Joe Frazier after Manila. Hell, I was faster on my stripped down `72 250 Enduro with half the power.
