Have you ever bought a bike just because of the seat cover?

A guy showed up this morning at my shop with this 87 KX125 wanting to sell it. His exact words were "I know it's a 2 stroke and it's damn fast!". I immediately decided he was not a fit owner of the bike (as if I'm fit to pass that judgment) and handed him the cash.

Nothing that I was particularly looking for but it was one of those deals where I wanted to see it in someones hands that it meant something to.

Hell, I'm trying to buy one that doesn't have a seat! Did you just happen to have a new set of side panels just laying around? That bike is pretty damn nice, you should loosen the chain before you damage something.Smile

Anything else DMC related on that jewel?

That's exactly how it came out of the back of his truck. Front brake doesn't work and the throttle housing is missing the cover.

As far as I can tell it's bone stock other than that seat.

Nice , i had a 88 that had a TUF pipe and white and green zebra seat cover with the shark fin welded on the swing arm to protect the brake rotor , even had roost boost ! Then somebody decided they wanted it more than me and stole it out of the shed.

Although popular in their day, I look back at the zebra seat now and think, WTF?

i was doing a mcgrath replica and couldn't get the seat cover and a bike came up on ebay for £400 ($600) with one on so i bought the bike swapped the seats and sold it on.
