Larry Ward was and I'm sure still is a bad dude on a scooter! I've always loved the 90 RM's and always thought it would be badass to build a tribute bike. He won a 250 main event in 1990 in his rookie year on the 250's...Something not a lot of guys have done. You see a lot of other builds but not many "Big Bird" builds.... So here is the finished product with a little help from my brother in law with great camera skills.

Wow. Amazing bike. Those were probably some of the best looking bikes of that era.

Love the attention to detail. Cool looking bike from a very cool time in the sport. The cast of characters back then was epic. Everything had evolved up to that point with the bikes and then stagnated a bit before the thumpers hit.

It's actually a 92 so I built it to look like Larry Wards 90.

My project took way to long also but in a different way. I spent a year doing almost nothing except tearing it down and then once I got rolling it went together pretty fast. The best part about mine was it is old enough that trick parts are all over ebay and cheap but not so old that parts are scarce and over priced. Wink

Damn that is a nice looking bike. I had one in 1990...it was a local pros practice bike (Bubba Erickson) and it was way too much to handle but I loved it. I'm currently looking for the same year(s) to make me a Tichenor replica as he was my guy that year.

My current ride:

Beautiful bike! I think the 89/90 RM250's are some of the best looking bikes ever. I can't think of a better way to dress up a '92.

I had an 89 I woods raced.
