Getting started on my 2nd AHRMA vintage racer. I had enough parts around to build another one. Here are my first two, my garage queen and the rider.

Did some bracing on the frame along with better exhaust mount and steering stop. Beefed up pegs with extra material on top and will have 10mm pins.

The engine has a new OEM crank that I’ve been hoarding for awhile. It has a 1975 transmission which has a few different gears and better shift forks. Eric Gorr did the cylinder and it has a billet intake with 36mm Mikuni carb. I have a HPI ignition coming. I have a PVL ignition on the other. New Koyo crank bearings and seals of course.

Wheels are ready (actually did those first). Blasted and painted hubs with Buchanan stainless spokes in the rear. I had some good oem spokes I put in the front.

My buddy came across these. They change the offset quite a bit for what I hope to be improved steering. I used tapered bearings also.

It’s on one wheel at least. I’m still trying to decide what shocks to use. I’ll probably put Race Tech Emulators in the front.

Beautiful bikes. Do you have a better photo of the garage queen? I'd love to see the details on that thing.

There are a couple things I want to do. I now have the proper nuts and fold over tabs for the rear sprocket. I also have the proper front brake clip and spring. The kickstarter was a later model one that works fine but I have the original style that I need to get chromed. It’s close Sully.

A little more progress. The forks will come back off and be polished when I install the Emulator from Race Tech. I just needed it rolling.

I got the new ignition mounted and timed 2mm before TDC. I may add another mount to the coil but my other one worked with one bolt.

I put the stock filter cage in for now but would like to build one of these like Newman has on his bike. I already have the base, cage and filter, I just need to get it welded up.

I put my DG pipe on that I originally had on my other bike. I went to PFR on it and may later on this one. I’m waiting on a billet brake pedal like I have on my other bike, but Bad Brush is out right now. He made some off the Jasco design with a couple changes.

I’m trying to decide on what gastank to use. I have one that is much too nice for a racer (I may photo it with it on there) and the other one I have is rough. I have a friend that had one I may get. I also have a Clark plastic tank that is red but a little faded. My next big expense will be the Race Tech shocks and fork Emulators. I may have to ride it to test it with the stockers.

Getting really close. My shocks and Emulators are ordered. I have my pre printed number plates coming. I just had to hear it run so I stuck a tank on it and fired it up! I rode it up the drive and back just checking how it shifts and how it ran. It felt strong but until I get it on a track I can’t be sure.

I’m waiting on my shocks from Race Tech. I have this tank but I’m not sure I want to use it for racing. I have a plastic Clark tank I’ll probably use. This tank is a survivor with only a couple very small dings. It’s been repainted but has no dent repair.

I used a plastic seat base I bought from DC Plastics. I had to make the brackets but it fits very well after I heated it and let it relax against the frame.
