Does anyone know where I can get a tank for a 1986 CR250?

I have bought 3 tanks on EBay and every one of them leaked fuel everywhere. I bought a white IMS tank that works for the time being but it is a 3.8 gallon tank and it looks horrible. Will an 87 tank fit on the 86? Does anyone make a new tank for this bike? Everything else on the bike is perfect.

I have bought from that seller on Ebay. He is trustworthy and has great NOS parts.

Wow! $795 for that NOS on eBay....wonder what they will take for “best offer”? I have a decent spare at home, but don’t really want to part with it. Where were all the eBay units you purchased leaking? We’re they cracked?

I got lucky and got a nos one half that price on eBay about 6 months ago. It’s a very rare part though, I can see somebody paying that to finish their bike. There is nothing quite like a new tank to finish an restoration.

One had cracks all in the bottom of it and the other one had gas coming out the bottom and the sides of the tanks. I couldn’t even see the cracks until I put gas in it. The other tank came discolored and had a huge crack by the petcock.

Thanks but I just don’t think I can fork out $795 for a gas tank. I wonder if I can fix one of mine.

I've got one you can have cheap. Bought it for my 87 thinking it was the same, it's not. I'll get a picture of it tonight if you think it'll work for you we can work out something.
