75 thru 79 or non link, non disc brake bikes thru 81.
the bikes like the 80/81 yz465's are a far better bike for the 75 thru 79 class because of better suspension and better power etc.
i had a 1974 1/2 maico 400 gp that i raced in the 74 all age open expert class and over 40 expert class in 92/93 and won the year ed championships in both. it was a great bike.

Barnett please explain your third line about how great the 80-81 YZ465 would be in the 75-79 class ...... I know of no organization here on the east coast where it would be legal to run an 81 of any make in the same class as a 75. Waaaaay too much progress was made between 75 and 81 to make that realistic
current rules that the 76 400 maico would fall under.

HISTORIC 500:
Certain 325-460cc two-stroke and up to 636cc four-stroke machines,
built up to and including the 1977 model year, that make up the first generation of
long-travel motorcycles. Eligible motorcycles include:
1975-’77 Bultaco Frontera, Alpina, Pursang 350/360/370
1975-’78 CCM MX up to 636cc. No CCM four-valve heads are allowed. Wheel travel
must comply with Historic class requirements.
1975-’78 CZ 400 Falta Replica
1975-’77 Honda XL350, side- or center-port engine
1975-’76 Husqvarna CR, WR 360. 1977 WR 360 is allowed. 1977 Husqvarna CR and
OR 390 are allowed (frame numbers between ML16000 and ML21000), with fork
travel limited to nine inches. Otherwise, see GP 500. 1975-’77 Husqvarna 360 and
390 Automatics are allowed.
1975-’77 Kawasaki KX400/450
1974-’77 Maico MC, AW 400/440. 1977 AW 400/440 must comply with the Historic
class suspension limits.

In the vintage races, I race calvmx which is one of the biggest vintage clubs in california, and their vintage and gp1 post vintage classes are listed below. What they don't specify on their site is that you can run any early 1980's bike in the gp1 class as long as it does not have a link or disc brakes or power valve or is factory water cooled, but these bikes are definitely accepted in the gp1 class.
Of course it is not realistic to race a 75 model bike against an 80/81 model but that's what their rules are. I also race my 38 year old bike against brand new $10,000.00 bikes with the OTHG club, and that is unrealistic yet I still have fun doing it and have managed to beat many of then in the process, but that is not in the intermediate or expert class.

ummm..."Dude", since the ahrma rules now seem to be different then what they were, it would be a great bike for that specific ahrma class and any other club that has the same class rules for that year bike.

You also obviously didn't know the vintage class criteria in so cal until I answered the question you asked me by posting the classes from one of the vintage racing club sites.

ummm...he said NOTHING about buying it himself, all he did was state what it was and post a photo of it and the ad for it, so for all ANYONE knows, he could be posting the ad simply in case anyone here might be interested in it etc, therefore, you are making yet ANOTHER assumption, and all the other assumptions I have seen you make here have been WRONG, therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if this one is as well.

Not much (other than a very strong left hand), as should be deduced from my previous post stating that I had a 74.5 400 gp model and won the ahrma western regional all age open expert and over 40 expert class with it the same year.
PS- Sorry but I won't be able to reply tonight to any more questions you might have for me cuz I'm old and need to go to bed early to get my rest so I can go race against them pesky ol newer $10,000.00 bikes again tomorrow with my worn out 38 year old bike, plus, unfortunately it will only be around 74 degrees with no wind and very few clouds, so I might get prematurely tired from exposure to the harsh elements.
