My new Clarke tank for my 94 cr250 project showed up and when I took it out of the box I was disappointed. Quality of the seams look like they didn't get finished, the petcock location is not flat, the fill cap isn't level and is super porous. I have read that they can have fitment issues but mine lines up perfectly. Anyone else have these types of issues or should I just ignore my OCD on this?

I’d certainly be disappointed, that thread is brutal, seams are “meh”.

I have some clarke tanks better then that I'd be sending that one back it's a defect that shouldn't have left the factory.

I bought the same Clarke for my 96' CR250 and it was in very similar condition. Since mine's a runner and I had cracked the brittle OE 96' tank, I was okay with it. For a show bike or one that's not to be ridden, I'd go OE if you can find one. Worth it for the Honda wing logo near the fill anyways Cool

I'd say on par with the Clarke and IMS tanks I've seen, they are not to the quality of stock or Acerbis tanks. I actually think your lucky it fits so well!
I try to buy Acerbis oversize tanks for my modern bikes, much better quality and fit...

I recently received a Clarke tank for my 1977 YZ125 and was impressed with the quality. Your tank does look defective to me around the cap and I would send that back. Nobody wants gas leaking down on their sack!

Call Clark. From my experience they are easy to work with and make things right. I'd get another tank of acceptable quality and keep this tank to use as practice days. This way you'll have a freshie and one for your knee brace to scratch up
