Got the 500 out for its maiden ride after stripping it down and putting it back together (one year!). If anyone is at the track come say hello. I’m at the upper parking.

Sorry, I missed this post! Not much of a story unfortunately. I'm out of shape and that thing is a beast! I was good for about 3-4 laps before I needed to get the feeling back in my hands Smile The front tire still has nubs on it, probably from it being in the air all day (really, I'm just slow). Runs crazy good on the pipe, very crisp. Was not idling however so I suspect the pilot jet is plugged a little. Will need to pull it apart and clean again. Still can't get the beast reliably kick started. I think it is mostly a factor of my size 16 boots hitting the foot peg so I'm not getting a full stroke from the top. Bump starts no problem. The chain slider in the guide on the swingarm came apart mid day so the chain ran on top of the bolts. Found some reproduction sliders on ebay out of Germany for $30 which I need to get before she goes out again. All in all, very impressed with the bike! I'm 6'8" tall and 280 lbs. Even with my nuts on the tank, instant wheelies with minimal throttle input.

Wow. Good to be out there. Rode an '85 back in the day. Definitely a beast and I was only about 160 (at the time)! Love and respect those 500's!

My dad had an 88 CR500 I rode on the Hangrown national track in the dead of summer… never rode. One on the track up to that day and it was seriously one of my top 5 best/funnest days ever on a dirtbike.

The way that bike pulled and was so fast I ended up being comfortable jumping things that normally intimidated me back in the day. This was at least 25 years ago. I was still getting the hang of riding my having grown up on trails and big hillclimbs and the reason I was jumping things w/o thinking 🤔 twice is because out of a corner that bike 🚲 was so fast I didn't have time to think twice or even once because I was already in the air halfway over the jump before I realized it hahaha
