I think back to my high school days racing my CZ 250 at tracks mainly in Oklahoma. I gew up and lived in the big town of Ada, Oklahoma. all 11,000 people not counting the Collage in town!

Also remember around 1973-74 buying parts over the phone from a CZ shop in Van Nuys CA, can't remember the name of the shop or what all brands they sold. I'm sure I found their ad in a magazine. I remember when I would call the guys were always helpful. I can't remember if I was buying parts or racing gear. I rember one of the guys telling me I should move to California, much better racing, life in CA was a blast. That I would move, get job, race, go to collage. I thought long and hard about getting the heck out of Oklahoma which I did, but not to CA. but Texas.

I wonder who those guys were that would take my calls. Whatever became of that shoe. Maybe even some of the guys that worked their still around.

Anybody rember a CZ shop in Van Nuys from the 70's.

Thanks, Billy

SCR,

Mid Valley, pretty sure that was it. Evidently you remember the shop too.

From what I could tell, it was a large shop. My guess larger than Mid Dale Cycle Sales in Oklahoma City where I bought my CZ.

Seems like I bought a kit from Mid Valley to move my shock forward. I never stepped foot in the place, just bought stuff over the phone. I recall my mother complaining about paying for the long distance calls.

Racing was fun back them. Much different times.

Thanks much.

Mid Valley Cycles. It's coming back to me now.
I never went to the shop but they sponsored a lot of fast guys at the local tracks. Kenny Zahrt and Marty Moates rode those bitchin blue and orange Ossas for Mid Valley if I remeber right.

I bet if I keep poking around I could find someone that worked at the shop, maybe someone I spoke with on the phone. Even though I was just an amature racing in my teens racing was a big part of my life. Every time I walk by the YZ250f in the garage I think back to my CZ and the 90 mile drive from Ada, Oklahoma to Oklahoma City in old truck with no AC in 100 degree sun and how much fun it was. Was way tougher then than now days.

wwdiii: Looking for someone who worked at Mid-Valley? That would be me. I worked there as the mechanic from 1975-78 and did everything from weld pipes, frame mods, engine rebuilds, etc. The 70's was a great time to be in to motorcycles.
