Just what is the story there Trey? :-)
Btw, I live in south Claremore myself-between Claremore and Verdigris.

That YZ125 Baron was on, was the silver tank(74?)with a 250 seat, forks..all kinds of stuff on it. I saw him somewhere else back then...asked him about that YZ125...he said it was a POS! He sure hauled ass on it.

Hey Trey...you remember Roger Brown? From New Braunfels, TX. Rode Can Am, Penton.

If memory serves correct, Bruce was sponsored by the US Navy at one point. In later years, Scott Gillman also had Navy sponsorship also.

I believe you have Scott mixed up with his older Brother Mike.

Woops! It was Mike, not Scott. Also remember , that Bruce used to run Maico leading axle forks on his Yamaha.

There used to be an AMA motocross track in Claremore in 1974. Bruce Baron and Mike Gillman showed up for an AMA regional. Bruce crashed really hard and knocked his front teeth out.

Bruce changed his #13 to #33 for better luck. You can also see how his forks match Morris Malone's Maico.

observer -- The Gillmans lived in Orange down the hill from Saddleback. Bruce stayed with them and traveled to national events with Mike. They should know what Bruce is up to these days.

Tom, Scott Gillman called me from Abu Dabi on Saturday, the morning of our party. I don't think he's heard from Bruce in years. The last time he did it wasn't good, so I fear that Bruce isn't doing very well, if he's doing at all...

Wow thats a name from the past....Bruce Baron and Don Dudek lived a few houses down from one of my best friends (in Cypress Calif) when i was about 11 or 12 years old racing an XR75 ...we used to hang out there because they had beer, bikes and girls ALWAYS hanging out their house. He was one of my first motocross heros at the time but the thing i remembered most was telling him i just special ordered a new BMX bike at the Schwinn dealer (i was thowing newpapers every day making about 600 a month-not bad for a kid in the 70's) so Bruce tells me cancel the order, I've got something to show you. We hop in his convertable Mercedes-Benz and take off on the wildest ride i've EVER had in a car in my life (and im 50 now) get on the 22 freeway and end up at Orange County Cycle where he proceeded to show me the new Yamaha "Motobike" w/suspension. I bought it the next day and proceeded to to tear it up in less than a week. Ironically about 3 years later I started working at Orange County Cycle cleaning shelves after school and ended up staying there for 15 years working my way up to be the General Manager. Those were the best days of my life and I owe it all to Bruce Baron. I'm not sure where he's at these days, hopefully he's healthy and happy but I do know Don Dudek still works at Yamaha Motor corp in Cypress,Calif so that would be the best place to start .

If my old memory is serving me correctly, Bruce was one of the riders that debuted the pink 250 Elsinores at Carnegie Cycle Park Trans-Am in , I believe, 1968 or 1969 They rode in the support class. Remember that Ake Jonson won the Open class over Adolf Weil. Correct me if I'm wrong. As I recall, He did not do very well.

I ride with Drew,

Saw him & his wife Friday night with our riding buddies.

He’s doing well, still fast & in great shape.

He works for the State prison in Huntsville Tx

Great guy to have as a friend.
