I remember reading a few years ago that Suzuki was going to start reproducing some parts for their older models....1. Is this true? What is the status/ models covered
2. If I give you a part #, can you run it to see if the part may be sitting on a dealer shelf somewhere

I just checked RMC, shows they may be able to get one for an 88, different part #, but I think the 87-88 cylinders are interchangeable? Possible porting changes? If you get tired of looking at that cylinder.....

I believe I had an 88, Seized on me like 12 times. Ended up being the lower end thrust washers were off from the factory. Once they were changed out it was all good.

Wow,..12 times...I have read some articles stating the 86 had seizure problems, but thought the 87-88”s were fairly reliable, albeit kind of slow...Some photos I have seen of the factory 87-88”s seem to have reed spacers, wonder if they were trying to get some low end of them?

Hi

the 87 and 88 are different cylinders
the power valves are a different size
I think you could be able to use an 88 one, but you will need the 2 valves and 2 guides for that 88 cylinder too

I decided to have Ken Oconner sleeve the original cylinder...he does very good work. But everything I cross referenced showed 87-88 cylinders to be interchangeable ...I tried to order an 88 cylinder from Suzuki but came back NLA...thanks for your input...

Hi

Like I told you if you use an 88 cylinder you will need the 88 valves, the 87 ones will be smaller than the 88 ones
Also, the upper part of the rod size is different on both years so the piston, wrist pin, and small bearing will be different too.
If you sleeving in it, you could send it to millennium to actually Nykasil the std bore to preserve it forever
I am at 55mm on mine 87 RM125 and I will send it to them to preserve that bore and just change piston and rings
