FPNI Zeke knows what’s up. I had a basket case of one many years ago, never followed through with a resto and sold it. Helped a friend restore one of that next one pictured, the Montesticle.

Hey fellas I just got mine running today for the first time in years.(super pumped). Anyone know why it has 2 spark plugs in the head? But only uses one?

So that when one plug fouls,just switch to the other one.My AJS had the same thing,popular back in the dayCool

There was also a practice of putting two different heat range spark plugs in, and using the hotter plug to start and warm the engine, then killing it and switching the lead to the colder-range plug for the ride. Probably made some sense in situations like desert racing where you might hammer an air-cooled motor for hours.

Another purpose of the second spark plug would be the installation of a compression release, which were popular back in the days of single leading shoe drum brakes.

So I did some cleaning and riding on the old girl this weekend. Anyone know how to get the nickel plated frame looking mint? And what oil you recommend?
