Man that's a great '86 IT200. Last year, only year for disk brake. What a find!

Sweet. I never had one but wanted one at the time. Had the PE175 which seemed bulky compared to the IT. A friend just got an IT200 last summer just to have.

I always wanted one of these, only made 1 year. Are the shrouds part of the gas tank?

The IT200 could be sold. If anyone is serious about just ask.

I like mine just as it is...bone stock. It's mostly used for trail riding and for grooving in mountain bike race courses and cyclocross courses...it's tough work but someone's gotta do it.

Yet I was always curious about using that motor for a special build, alter the porting and pipe for higher revs and quicker acceleration, lighter freewheel, etc, and bolt it into the latest model YZ 125 chassis possible...I suspect it would bolt right in to anything up to about '87. Do some modern updates to the suspension and I think it might be a damn fun bike, air-cooled and all.

I really like my IT200. It is does everything well, great motor for the woods. Race Tech parts really improve the suspension.

This was my dad's favorite bike of all time.
Looking at this pic brings back some of my favorite childhood memories. Like I could close my eyes and it would be 25 years ago and we'd be riding at the state forest a few towns over.

Sure does look great, always preferred these to the KDXs of the era. Super rare to find the front disk guard with a DG exhaust and the bike in that kind of shape-- these bikes are usually found hammered flatter than a can since the basic motor lasts so long. Cool scoot!

I had an 82 IT 175. I wish I still had it. I was 14 when my dad bought it for me, it was my first modern, long travel bike. In 1983 we traded it for an 82 YZ125 so I could start racing motocross. I sure loved that bike way back when.

Nope. Totally different engine. RT is oil injected, left side drive etc......

nope. the RT180 motor is like the DT / MX 175 from the 70s. The IT200 motor is based at least in part on the 1980 YZ125. (Though the IT175 motor was a *lot* closer to that of the 80 YZ125).

There used to be a really cool IT200 website like 10 years ago or so. Long gone now, can't find a mirror or archive either. I've always wanted one of these.. with some good suspension work it would be an amazing bike.

An '86 with the 240 kit from a Raptor would be righteous. Heard different opinions whether that kit would work or not, but at one time one of the cylinder replaters was offering a kit just for the IT200.

You're probably thinking of the Blaster, the Raptor 250 is a thumper.
The Blaster is an air cooled non-pv motor. Some of the Blaster guys used to put a 200cc liquid cooled dual purpose Yamaha motor in the quads- that would likely be a nice upgrade for the IT.

Thanks! I guess i got the names confused.

It's cool to see how many folks dig these old bikes. I have a buddy from grad school who rode his '85 for four years, parked it under a tarp, and 8 years later ran it with new tires and a carb cleaning. The only complaint I've heard about the basic soundness of the design is the head stay causing cylinder cracking on some that have seen hard use.

Where can I get some good IT 200 plastic? The DC stuff stinks for the IT!

This 1986 was a basket case in a box. Completely rebuilt. Great bike! My son likes to ride it. His grandfather owns it.

Had the 86 IT200. It was a good bike. But for the 87 season I went with the KDX200 . Now that was a GREAT bike.

My brother has an IT in his garage that I've been bugging him to restore. Came across this website today: http://www.yamahait.com.au/forum/index.php/board,2.0.html
