I grew up racing in Michigan from 88 to 03 and love getting my kid into it. First we found a RM60 which is the yellow flavor of the 60’s I raced at Loretta’s and it seems hard to find the next step bike these days. We happened across a 1989 CR80 which was the closest we could find to the 1993-1995 models I raced. Changed the CDI and she came back to life. Plastic is impossible to find so it will stay as it is but I can’t wait to watch him ride it and give the old relic some spins on the track again. If anyone has a line on fenders let me know!

I assume your going to re-route the front brake line? Nice find!

Yeah, there are a number of items that need to be corrected with the routing of cables and hoses.

Put the wee lad to work today changing tires and hiding the rear fender repair under some decals. I have a feeling that this will end up being a keeper piece we will have in the shop after he is done riding it for a bit. Parts are next to impossible to find. Great runner, just an oldie from many of our past days.

Very nice bike! I had an 88 when I grew up, great looking bikes and they are fast.
