Hi all
Here is my Emig inspired build. I'm calling it "inspired" because compared to some of the awesome replicas it really hasn't got the trick SR parts on it that they do.
So this is what I started with:
Here is my Emig inspired build. I'm calling it "inspired" because compared to some of the awesome replicas it really hasn't got the trick SR parts on it that they do.
So this is what I started with:
Hands that did things to it like this:
Using a piece of sheet metal for a skid plate, painting a frame with pressure pack cans and the tell tail red bull can wrapped around the shock gas chamber are the workmanship of hands that have no idea. Not to mention how much rubber was under the rear gaurd telling me this poor bike had screamed its lugs out in a shed with those hands on the throttle.
It wasn't right! The green was to pastel and then I came across Flo green powder from the States and this is how it came up :
I found a Flo green front gaurd and a set of triple clamps to suit twin chamber forks...
Then this was under the Christmas tree a couple of years a go.
Then I moved onto the motor, totally stripped down
Then I sand blastered it
Then because I wanted to use boyesen covers and emig had the magnesium bottom end I thought I'd find a happy medium and came up with this
I was really happy with the look in the frame.
The Shop
Is that a 91 yz125 getting the rebuild in the background too?
I found a sweet brand new stock pipe and I thought I'd strip the paint off and give it a raw look:
A lot of hard work went into the swing arm but I haven't taken any close pics of it. My mate found me a sweet nos purple/yellow Renthal bar pad.
So that's where I'm up to at the min,
Thanks for having a look at my thread.
Cheers
Sweet bikes man!
Tip: I advanced my timing and it really woke it up. Its snappy from top to bottom.
that tin bashplate is funny some people always suprise me with the shit they can come up with. that bike is very lucky it ended up in your hands look forward to seeing the progress it's looking very tidy
Found a nearly unusd farme a few years ago (92 yz125) and the bug started! We have a few jap import bikes over here and got a low hr 92 yz125 and mixed and matched from there
Love the 1990s kx125s to
Had a 95,96 then a 97 with the same seat and works graphics flo green fenders and rad covers but not the number plates, pc pipe, porting ,96 crank, maybe a pv governor? Cart remember now, wc frame and skid plates ,carbon reeds etc .looked great !! Wished I still had it! I never went that good but loved the bike.
Keep up the good work!
Pit Row
90'smxer I used 07 kx450 Tag triple clamps, they fitted straight into the frame but I do have a problem to sort out with the stopper. The froke tubes hit the frame before the stooper works, I' expectations got a couple of ideas that I think will work.
731chopper the Talon hubs that were originally on the bike will fit, the axl size is the same. I may have to make some spacers up, I will have to use the crf front brake mount but should be able to use the original caliper.
Mototed82 I took the boyesen cover to my Powdercoater and asked if he could match it and he did, really happy how it came up.
Thanks MadMatt579 I'll remember that tip, yeah NZpatch I had never really ridden the 125 on the dirt until the other day it was so much fun but it definitely sounded a lot faster than it actually went.
Heres my yz pipe...it was covered in surface rust but came up great.
