Just bought this tired 93, CR250 for 300 Euros, started stripping it down and thought as as joke being as ive got a set of SXS factory clamps, and forks hanging around, i'd see how much work it would be to fit them in.
And guess what!
THEY GO STRAIGHT IN !!!!
they only need a pair of steering stops tapping in and there done.
Bearings are exactly the same, shaft length too.
Got the billet caliper too
I will keep updating the rebuild with pics

Even close!
Getting frame welded up and powder coated, will start fitting it up next week
The Shop
Same diameter as standard sx
So easy enough to find sx stuff cheap.
If the bearings are the same for1991 cr125. And 93 cr250 which im sure they are!
They should go in no probs,
Same,
Bearings look same,
Should go straight in.
They're both really good forks, but they do like to eat fork seals compared to Jap stuff. I've just switched over to SKF blue seals in the KTM, but they seem no better despite the hype.
At 12.5 stone (175lbs) plus kit, I find everything works quite well from the crate. After 5 years of racing, my setup hasn't changed much from stock.
I have to use a harder high-speed shim stack in my forks for the bigger hits on motocross sections, which isn't required with the closed-cartridge type forks in the SX and later XC models.
I'm not one of the real fast guys however. 2nd clubman last year in the hare and hounds championship I raced. (Normally finish between top 5 and 10%)
For someone middle-of-the-road like me, they're great.
I fitted a WPCC front end into a CR500, and the bearings are different. So it required machining of an inner spacer, top and bottom, and a change of top bearing to a later Honda one. I fitted the WPs to get the benefit of the 18/20 mm offset ( axle to central line of fork leg were the same dimension on the WPs I used) as against the std 24mm, plus that, once the CCs are made into a True CC - they sure as hell aren't as std - they are a Very good fork.
KTM bearings are 29mm ID X 50.25mm OD X 15mm . Your 93 CR Bearings are listed as 30mm x 51 X 15. So, you must have done what I referred to in the first sentence. Please, be Very careful, as there may be differences in the taper of the cups to inner bearings that could lead to a disaster.
