I bought a hashed out spray painted but running 86 cr250 last fall, took the winter and some of this spring to finally get her going again. Not near as nice as some of the others but I'm taking her to the track in a few hours to see how it goes. Here is a list of what I did:

New tires
Chain and sprockets
Chain slider kit
PC pipe and silencer
Rebuilt shocks and forks
Day star fork boots
Oversized bars
New carb
Shock, linkage, swingarm bearings
Acid cleaned radiators
Vforce reeds
Silicone radiator hoses
Billet pegs
Front master cylinder and caliper off an 07 yz450

That's all that's coming to mind, it's not leaking water into the oil yet but it will eventually need the side case replaced due to the magnesium problem. I still need to get some graphics and some numbers so I can hit the 30 plus and 450b class and see how it goes.

Well two hours of riding and adjusting things and I lost the bottom end, it will still start but it's knocking bad so I stopped.

Damn, that sucks!

I do believe I sold you some parts from the 500 site, I just put your username together from both sites!

You probably did, I have only bought parts from one person on the other site and you sold me a few things for this bike, thanks for the hook up. Still debating on that carb you have. Cleared everything on the track, bike sounded great, terrible bottom end but ripped on top. Front suspension was great through chop but would stack up if I hit corners hard. Rear brake stopped working, front brake isnt that great even with the updated parts. I ordered the 87 pipe as suggested in other threads and have to make a bracket for the silencer and the pipe sticks out farther where the original midpipe was so its melting my side plate. Anyone have a rebuilt motor laying around?

I've since put the pwk on one of my 500's, glad I did. It's never started so easy. Unfortunately I have no 250 engine parts, only 500 stuff. Sucks about the blowup!

Man... I dig the pipe! Where did you track that bad boy down at? It seems there are no more 86' PC pipes out there... especially works pipes. Sorry about the bottom end. Check ebay, there's a complete engine on there right now. If my memory serves me correct, the sellers asking arond $350.

The pipe is for an 87. It doesn't fit perfect. Need to make a bracket for the rear silencer mount. I think PC still has one left but you have to call. I did see that motor but I think I want something rebuilt. Pulled the motor yesterday and going to need a rod kit, and the whole top end done including a sleeve. Probably be a few months saving some money. Thinking about doing the eg 265 kit but end up being close to a grand by the time I have the motor done... Ouch
