Wiseco offers two piston kits for std. bore. One is for a 79mm stroke and the other is for 76mm stroke, which is stock. All of the single pistons offered are listed for 79mm stroke. Does that mean that none of the single pistons will work on a stock stroke?
871M08900 for std bore
76mm stroke is 480
79mm is 500
Those will be different.
But to be sure i would ask wiseco

Dont know anything about twin clickers, are they good? Or is it just a cool vintage damper?

Dear Sir,
Our new part # 871 Series is updated from the old 636 & 554 series and fit "ALL" 480 & 500 CR's models. Difference is in the gaskets for the PK kit. Yes, there is a difference in stroke and deck height of stock cylinder on 480 & 500.
Again, our new part fits "ALL" bore and different stroke CR 480 /500 model years.
Thank you and Good Luck
They offer the same piston for 79 - 84 CR125's. 79 CR125 has a very small intake cutaway, 80 slightly larger and 81 and up a much larger cutaway. I'm no 2 stroke port guru, but what effect will a huge piston cutaway have on an engine designed for a small cutaway?
Piston on the left is what Wiseco offers. Piston on the right is stock height 1980 CR125 cutaway made from a 74-78 CR125 OEM piston, center in the pic. Took a bit off the skirt and cut the intake side to match.
Here is a stock 79. Notice the stock single ring? Wiseco has dual ring.
Think that will make more change then cutaway.. but im no pro
I always check to make sure the piston skirt doesn't block the intake port during the intake stroke to ensure you get full charge.
