Hi
Picked up a CR250R 1982 a few days ago.
Does anyone know if the impeller and shaft for the waterpump is avaiable anywhere? Or is used parts the only way to go?
The internal parts is missing, and a electric waterpump was installed with a batteri in the airbox :-).

The impeller and shaft are not available from Honda any more, Sad you will have to find a NOS or used one.

Okay Experts.......question: will a 1981 cr125 water pump cover fit on a 1981 cr250?? I noticed that they both use the same gasket.

Try running a parts cross-reference for the outer case cover. There are a couple of sites for this, Google search to find. Also just looking at one of the online parts microfiche for that year should be useful-- Several of the larger powersport dealers have this. Good luck on your quest!

The part# for the 125 is 11340-KA3-000 COVER, L. CRANKCASE and the part# for the 250 is 11340-KA4-000 COVER, L. CRANKCASE. I am almost positive the 250 is deeper than the 125. I actually show the 250 gasket as 11395-KA4-306 GASKET, L. and the 125 as 11394-KA3-306 GASKET, L. COVER. KA4 is 250 and KA3 is 125.

I have a 81 250 cover if you want me to measure it. Do you have an 81 125 cover to measure? As you might know the 81's are hot commodities because you can use them in place of the crap magnesium 82 and 83 covers. I have an 81 spare and one on my 83 250.

What is wrong with your 81 cover or perhaps it got robbed for the above purpose? Don't hear problems on the aluminum ones often.

I know that the clutch cover which also houses the water pump gearing and impeller are different on the 1981 cr125 and the cr250 but according to what I have seen I think that water pump covers (which attach to the clutch cover) are the same on both bikes. These attach to the clutch side covers with four small screws and have a water pump cap attached to them with four even smaller screws? Only covering the water pump not the entire side case. Am I right??

I guess every time we see the words 80's CR and water pump we always think about the entire clutch cover because of all the issues. In looking at the info it does appear that the 125 and 250 share that part according to partzilla:

Purchase this Honda 19222-KA4-300 CAP, WATER PUMP --- CAP, WATER PUMP (Honda Code 1042407)

This Honda 19222-KA4-300 CAP, WATER PUMP is used on these models and components:

1981 CR125R A WATER PUMP 81

1981 CR250R A WATER PUMP 81

Regarding the "80s Honda waterpump / clutch covers..... There is a guy from Australia that is making replacement covers out of cast aluminum. His name is Russell. Check out the covers on Honda-Elsinore,com A little pricey, but..... I have an '85 that had the same problem with corrosion. Lucky enough to find an NOS cover, and it wasn't cheap either!

I have a clutch cover for CR250 83 for sale if any one is interested.

I had it listed on ebay but I ended the listing because some problem when I listed it, I could not find it when I did a search, only thru my account...

For those interested, Ive done the 89 cover swap on my 87

According to my measurements:

spring cup in 87 case sits approx 7.44mm from case edge

spring cup in 89 case sits approx 5.36mm from case edge

difference :  approx 2.08mm

Spring w/ spring cup  : approx 65.99mm

Spring w/ no spring cup : approx 64.47mm

difference : approx 1.52mm

Seeing as how the 89 powervalve spring has no cup, I decided to get rid of the 87 spring cup. The spring sits nicely on the existing "lip" of case.

Removing the cup leaves a remaining approx 0.56mm to bore out

Ive decided to not do any boring,  seeing as how it is such a small amount,  and see how it works.

I will get back with results , thanks to those who have contributed to this thread so far
