Hi

I'm going through the process of fitting some '87 cartridge forks and triple clamps to my '79 Honda CR250, as part of this the steering stop needs modifying to prevent damage to the fuel tank.

The 'normal' way to do this looks to be by drilling and adding bolts to the stops on the lower fork yoke, Like this.

This feels a bit of a brutal way of doing it and was looking to modify the stop on the frame, I've seen this as a similar mod for a KX250 and wondered if there was one available for the CR, or if someone had made one themselves they'd be prepared to share their experience on?

Many thanks
Regards

Never had to modify the stops of any of the Rocket's we've built.

I'm guessing that's probably because you are using your own PDE triple clamps Stevie, which unfortunately are a little out of my budget at the moment?

We've built them with stock 43mm clamps as well. (Our clamps have the same lock stop position and offset as the originals)
If you are using 89, CR125 clamps that have a different offset (20mm instead of 22mm) that could cause them to touch the tank though.

Thanks for the pointers Stevie, thats interesting, to be fair I'm not sure exactly what year bike these clamps came off - I bought a box full of CR front end stuff so it sounds like the first thing I should do is check what the other clamps are like, I assumed they were all the same.

Thanks again.
