Hello, I set my stator plate mark to the center of the screw in the case. I believe that is a good starting point as my manual says.my manual cover the RM models but I don't see a # for degrees for the '77. I see on the '76 125cc engine they give 8 degree BTDC for fine tuning. I know the '76 has a different bore and stroke than the '77 125cc engine.
Does anybody know the degree BTDC for the '77 125cc engine??? I have a spark plug insert dial indicator so I can set the timing in degrees, mm, or inches BTDC. I just would like to try to get the timing as good as I can !! My Airhammer runs good now,,,,, just wanting to try Thanks john https://p.vitalmx.com/photos/forums/2017/04/20/189079/s1200_12.jpg" class="img-fluid" />

In my manual it says to line up the mark on the stator in the center of the .screw for a quick reference if you don't have the Suzuki tool dial gauge. The '76 RM125A engine has a 8 degrees BTDC if you have a dial indicator or use the method with mark on the stator. My '77 has the mark on the stator but there is "no" mention of DEGREES BTDC in my manual. I have the '77 set at the mark method on the stator. My bike does run good & I could leave the stator alone, But just wondering if I had an exact number in the degree that Suzuki recommends it would run just a little bit better! 125cc always could use as much power as I could get out of her.

I always used a dial indicator to set the timing on those engines and it was in the range of about .020" BTDC. That should give you a good starting point.
