I had a 1977 YZ100 back in the day. Man, talk about a screamer! No bottom end, but when it came on the pipe, it would move! I wish I could find another one...

Someone needs to re-ask this question in regards to a 74-78 CR125 Elsinore.....

I don't know too much about that bike and it has been a whole lot of years since I rebuilt a 74 YZ125 which was probably similar. Sounds like the part he is describing is not meant to be taken apart. rather installed as an assembly.

Joe.......I would think that if it were to be installed as an assembly, the exploded parts diagram would have a "bracket" symbol on those particular parts and would be noted as an assembly, right?

I would think that trying to install this assembly in the three pieces as shown in the yammer diagram, it seems there would be nothing to retain the ball as it rides on the shift drum detent.
My '79 YZ250 has a spring loaded "bullet" shaped neutral locator and it is retained inside the oil drain bolt. It has plenty of travel within the bolt to move at least 3/8", where as the yz100 has the spring loaded ball which can't be retained outside of the bolt.
Because of this design, I think the neutral locater ball, spring and bolt is installed as one assembly.

I raced in the Atlanta area in the 100cc class back then. Two of the fastest riders in the area were the #117 and the 711 both rode the YZ. Any body remember their names???

for those wondering.......stock pipe with a slightly tweaked silencer from a 2005 KX125 .

Very cool rebuild, though the ripped seat cover is certainly out out of place there.
How well does it run?

Matt........this bike is a racer so there's a few flaws as far as cosmetics go.....tank, seat, rims....even the rear tire is old. The detail's are in the suspension and engine.......this little bomb rips.
Won 100cc class last weekend at our EVO event.

Nice racer. Hit Humyman up for some "Humble" stickers for the tank in lieu of those "Uni" stickies and you're done!

I have an almost complete yz100c engine, and a basket of clutch parts, I'm not sure which clutch belongs to it. Can anyone post pics of their 1976 yz100 clutch basket, front and rear thanks.
