Not really sure what your exact question is but some parts are hard to find, but some parts are hard to find for many vintage bikes. I have a 1980 yz250, and i bet tranny parts for that will be much harder to find then 73/74 elsinore ones.

Also, i had a 74 cr250 that was ported and had a reed valve and i raced it in the vintage expert class and holeshot nearly every single moto in the 93 season and i never had the tranny fail.

You can also have the tranny parts cryod which may improve their life span, and if you want it to shift smoother and easier, you can have the trans parts isf/rem finished, on top of that you can also have them coated with tungsten disulphide.

i also put a longer swingarm on it and raised the fork tubes in the tripple trees as much as possible to get it to turn and ran works performance shocks but you may have to use others these days.

What parts are you worried about?

For the 73's we are able to offer complete transmission's (not cheap, but still, it is something that is available) we do billet triple clamps assemblies, exhaust hangers, inlet manifolds, Ti or Stainless spindles, Ti or stainless fastener kits. Airbox kits. We're just about to get alloy swing-arms underway and we have lots more stuff/ideas in the pipe line for them.

Jeff Clark at Badbrush Designs has rod kits and a lot of misc oem and aftermarket parts. Bearings, seals, gaskets, clutches... He also stocks good Motion Pro cables with a solid pull unlike another brand with mushy stretchy feel.

I source high end full pack bearings for the crank and countershaft. If you can come up with a decent frame and core engine, there really isn’t much that is difficult to find for building a race bike.
