My girlfriend bought me this '97 TM 250 Cross for my birthday, it runs great and I plan on tidying up and racing it in Midwest VMX's new EVO 5 class but I am wondering how many TM's of this era are still floating around out there.

If those 50mm marzzochis are like the ones from the 1997.5 ktm jackpiner junk them. They pump up soooo bad

Great find! I wish I could find one of the older, pink TMs. Especially a full size 80 or a 125.

The Jackpiner had Marzocchi forks and an Ohlins shock. I remember those forks being way better than the WP 50mm that came out afterwards. And the Ohlins PDS shock was better than the WP, as well.

My 12 year old likes to worry kids on newer bikes at our local practice tracks here in the UK on his 1997 TM80. If it helps you the guys at TM UK have lots of parts for early TMs. That's a nice bike you have mate.

The 96 is a bitchin bike I've been looking for one of those for years, the weren't the bike to ride for dudes that were insecure about their manhood but I always thought the pink gave the same effect as the pastel colors on muscle cars and kinda added to how cool they were.

Thanks, it's a great little bike. It does share some bodywork with the 125, the tank is a lot smaller and only has a rad and shroud on one side, like most Jap 80's of that era, the frame, forks, shock and swinging arm are smaller, the motor is smaller but the subframe, seat, side panels, rear fender etc are all the same as the 125. It's a trick bike with billet hubs and triple clamps, alloy tank etc. I paid £650 for it 18 months ago, running but been abused, I would want £1200 for it now but it's not forsale, the boy loves it.

The 1998 KTM's had 50mm black WP conventual forks. Those 1998 KTM forks were awesome! The smaller KTM's[125/200] had 45mm zokes. Your TM looks to have 50mm Zokes, great forks if there set up right. I would run fork boots, the 45mm had seal problems.

I would totally rock that pink TM.

Nice find on the blue one. The seat, sidepanels and rear fender look exactly like 94-98 KX's. You could do a Splitfire TM, lol!

Those tms were the exotica back then. I had a 1996 gas gas 80 in the 125 size which is and was even rarer. It ran the Tm engine polished frame carbon silencer mazzochis excel rims brembo brakes the list goes on. Derek edmondson brother of Paul over here in the uk sold them

Most of the plastics were stolen from rm's and Kx's of that era. It definitely drew the biggest crowds each week just a shame that it was underpowered could've done with 100cc at least

The rear fender and side pannels are in fact KX parts. Front fender i think is RM.. And YZ shrouds..

Oem 97 graphics may be a little hard to find. But there are a lot of 98 graphics and seat covers in stock around.

I was thinking the same thing! Lol.

Crazy how TM uses the plastic shapes of the KX, YZ and RM on their bikes. So cool, really!

My boss has a 98 125 and the blue plastic says Kawasaki on them.
