Mine is a hybrid. I used an answer carbon body and a PC shorty baffle. The PC exhaust passages are bigger and sounds better but the carbon fiber canister is lighter.

I'm off to the sodablasters tomorrow with an engine, swingarm and a few other bits and pieces. I'll post some pics with how they look when they return.

A lot of the factory Honda style ignition covers were made by a Dutch company called TMV. They pop up on ebay from time to time, but the prices can be pretty steep sometimes. Post a wanted thread in this forum and I'm sure you'll hear from somebody who has one.

Looking good!
Hey Pat I'm not having much luck with that website. I've registered but I can't start a new thread or reply to posts. It says I don't have the appropriate 'privileges'... WTF?

I've sent 2 emails to them and havn't had a response to either.

The admins at MXTRAX suck, I wouldn't expect a reply. I would just try registering another account. There are a few mid 90's CR builds going on in the 90's forum. I'm doing a quick clean up/ cheap resto of a 1995 CR 125 at the moment, have gone for the 96 1800 Collect graphics but am adding a few personal touches to the bike.

Did a quick mock up today to give me an idea of what it will look like, pleased with the look of the seatcover.

I'm just about peeing myself with excitement. Just called the sodablaster and my engine and other bits and pieces are ready to be collected.

Problem: sodablaster man is 200klms away.

Solution: my best mate Moto619 is in town and is picking them up for me. WoohooWoohoo

Pics will be up as soon as they get here....

Sorry guys the project has been on hold for the past week or so due to some personal issues on the home front.

I'll be back into it shortly. Thanks for your patience Wink

OK guys I'm back into it. I cleaned the motor today after the soda blasting and I'm happy with the results. Although not perfect it is A LOT better.

Obviously in the 2nd photo here the outer clutch cover is getting replaced

The beauty of soda blasting is that it doesn't harm bearings or seals and won't even penetrate duct tape unless you blast it directly. The motor was blasted as you see it here - completely assembled. Just plug the holes well.

Hi McFan
Have you tried this guy for the HRC ignition and clutch covers?
Expensive I know but about the same price as second hand old stuff that appears on UK ebay!
Keep it coming.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-HRC-repro-clutch-and-ignition-cover-CR250-R…
I bought my clutch cover off the guy who makes them for red-elsinore.

As red-elsinore only sells them in black and as a set, I will quite likely buy the ignition cover directly off the guy who makes them.

However my first preference would probably be a genuine HRC cover should one come along... Smile

It's been a while since I visited this site. When I saw this thread, naturally I had to check it out.

Looks like the soda blast did a pretty good job of cleaning up your engine. Now you'll need
new hardware and some HGA pieces to finish it up. If you are going for the "Team Honda"
look, you'll need to spring for titanium hardware - $$$.

The OE right side case cover was painted. I spent some time and came up with a powder coat
color match. I'm posting a picture of the right side case cover and clutch cover from my CR
along with a new OE clutch cover - guess which one is which.

Like others have pointed out, the guy from the UK that's selling clutch covers on Ebay is
now selling replica ignition covers. I have one of his clutch covers on my CR500 and it's
a really nice piece. I'm sure his ignition covers will be the same.

I look forward to your progress.

dogger

Here is the replica HGA clutch cover from the UK. I powder coated the right side case cover on this engine too.

This is the replica HGA ignition cover he sells for the CR125

This is the motor I built for my 93.

Nice work there Dogger. That powder coated clutch cover looks good. I have one of the outer clutch covers already from the UK guy already and was aware he was selling ignition covers too. I will look him up soon.

No titanium for me - that's not in my budget unfortunately. All my hardwear is heading off to get re-zinced today actually.

Your completed motor looks sweet. Where did you find your ignition cover?

Thanks Macfan. The ignition cover is a cast Aluminum replica of the Magnesium covers
Honda used. I bought it years ago before Honda sued the company for copyright violation.
I ended up replacing that cover with a Magnesium cover Pro Circuit used to sell. It was
originally the brownish color of sand cast Magnesium, so I powder coated it to match,
I'm posting a picture of that cover. The engine was for a 93 I built from scratch using all
new parts. It's not a Mac replica, just a replica of what I raced in 93.

The "Honda Racing" cover is going on a 2001 engine I'm building for an all out AF project.

I imagine with the your logistics situation, you probably want to keep the powder coating
projects to a minimum - I don't blame you. I was offering up suggestions in case you wind
up having enough items that need to be powder coated to justify another long journey. You
will be surprised what a difference your freshly plated hardware will make.

That's a helluva nice job you did on the 93 project Dogger. Well done! It wouldn't actually take much to make that a 93 MC replica Wink

I think I will end up with one of the cast aluminium replica ignition covers as the HRC covers seem to be getting hard to find these days.

I pretty much only have to get my inner (large) clutch cover painted so I will probably skip the powdercoating - especially after the trouble I had with my frame. He is the only powder coater within 5 hours of my house too...

I was going to use PJ1 Satin silver engine case paint but apparently they no longer make it - they only produce black now which is weird because all engines are silver these days...

Has anyone tried removing a Pro Circuit badge from a Works pipe? I was wondering if the weld marks would clean up OK and be un-noticeable or if they will leave 'scars' on the pipe. Any ideas anyone???

I suggest doing it with a sharp plyer (spelling). Try to cut open the welds and wiggle the badge off. Then carefully work it with a sharp file and polish afterwards.

I have a suggestion for you for case covers, it is from a Dutch guy and they are beautifull:
