If I could only have 4 bikes, I'd have my '87, my '93, my Maico and an '08 or '07 CR450. Heck if I was rich, I'd have at least 4 '87 CR250s. Good luck on your sale and tip of the hat to your project.
The Shop
Honda was just a complete steamroller back in those days. They won *everything*, Ricky Johnson was the fastest man in the world, Soichiro could have put a trained chimp on an HRC bike and Honda still would have gotten podium finishes.
And the '87 CR250 is so close to perfect, just the complete representation of how Honda was doing everything so right -- I can't honestly think of what I'd sell my own '87 for.
Houston is not far from were I live, and have been surprised at the up and down pricing of that CL '87. But on the other hand, for the right person, ANY good '87 is a great piece of history -- as always, it just depends on how much value that person puts on acquiring the bike.
Thanks
Last year at Budds Creek I broke my YZ250 and had to run the CR in modern, as they were clicking in their Hole Shot devices one said we should give you an advantage, I laughed and pointed at their starting devices gate dropped got the hole shot almost won the race took second. These bike can run at any modern event and win.
If it doesn't sell no problem I'll just have to run anouther class
Tight in moto land
Pit Row
Take it out and trash the sh--t out of it.
thanks
If anyone else is interested, my '87 CR250 is for sale.
Is it true I can take the hubs off an '89 or later to save weight?
Can I bolt some Yamaha Ti footpads on it like I used on my '89 CR125? I don't have the bike in front of me to look.
Does anyone see a benefit of running a Vforce over stock?
The bike has a new PWK airstryker 38mm carb. Has anyone run one of these on their 87?
Any other suggestions?
How about gearing? Go with stock gearing?
I'll get some yamaha pegs ordered and hopefully someone will chime in on the hubs.
