Picked up a 1987 CR125 for $300 off of FB Marketplace. I've always wanted to own a piece of 1980's motocross history and race vintage class. Well, I think she's a good steed to make that happen next year.

I am open to suggestions and recommendations for this build, so feel free to chime in at any point.

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers

First step: Pull clutch cover off and check waterpump area for corrosion!

Finally got somewhere on this build! Its barely an attempt, but it seems like it only takes one piece of the final puzzle to see the rest of the build in my head. Gonna have to do something one off on this build, otherwise it wouldn't be trick, right?
Had to take advantage of the GUTS Racing BLKFriday deals. They had a gripper for the '87, I was surprised, so it was a perfect fit for the direction of the build and the colorway selection. Looking to get more progress over the holidays, cant wait.

That doesn't look like the original flat slide Keihin carb that came on it. Stock was a 34mm Keihin PJ.
Also, get yourself some wider footpegs - modern YZ pegs fit.
But as someone else suggested - open that water pump cover. I'd be more concerned about getting the thing running properly before blinging it up at all.

With a newborn at home now, garage time is very limited. So any progress I can get done is a plus right now.

Best looking bikes of the 80's hands down in my opinion.
