I have recently scored this 84 CR125 with an aftermarket low boy plastic tank, It uses the stock tap & cap, It has no markings anywhere on it to give away the maker, Fits good & is well made, It
Has molded in mounts & captive molded in rad shroud & fuel tap nuts like original, Anybody seen one before or know the brand? I have included pics of a bike with stock tank for comparisons Photo

Thank's for the Info guys, I purchased the bike just for the tank not knowing the brand of it but knew it was something cool, I am stoked!! Now I need one of these kits!, Anybody have any Mugen parts for 84-86 CR125? OR Showa /Mugen fork kits? Or any HRC parts? I am doing a 1985 CR125 at the moment tooPhoto

I would love to get a Honda Racing cover for my 1986 CR125R if anyone knows where to find one.

You bike looks good.

That cover looks like the one I got from jtracing6 in the UK. I was able to get one of the last covers with Honda Racing from Russell Brown or Warren Berthiaume at evosrus@hotmail.co.uk.

Brian try looking at http://www.crclutchcovers.com/2015/09/24/1984-1986-cr-125/ for a clutch cover if you need one.

I have to ask. I had 3 of these and sold 2 of them. Is this a mugen pipe? Last guy that bought one said it was. I knew it was for an 84 cr125 just no marking on pipe. Thanks for any info. Photo

Yes Roadrider is correct, my mag cover came from JTracing6, I think I may have got the last 2 off him, I am using the other one on an 85 CR125, The clutch cover is a Russell Brown job which I had the writing milled into then cerakoted but the ones Evos r us sell come with the writing & look great.

How do you like your cover from Russell? I have heard they work great. Looks like shipped to the US is around $360.

That's a really nice pipe but I don't think it's Mugen, it looks very similar to a Fresco one that I have for my 85 CR125, Are you selling?

Yes top quality product, I needed to die grind the powervalve spring towers a little lower as they had not been machined down far enough & the water pump gear was jamming on them, 5 min job plus I also contacted Russell with feedback about it & he was going to machine all future ones further to fix the problem.

What does a Mugen cylinder sell for for? Are kitted CRs the fastest 125s ever? I wonder why the 84 body style was only one year? They looked so cool

|

4/11/2019 5:13 AM

The last Mugen cylinder I saw was a couple of years ago in europe and the guy wanted like 3000.00 for it.
Thats over my budget.

Have you checked the capacity of the tank, Smed?

Besides the 'drop' to the tank, the areas comparable to the std tank appear to be bigger in most aspects.

It's a fascinating piece, that I don't think I've ever seen before.

Specs I can find show the 86 tank as 1.7 real, , Imperial gallons = a poofteenth under 7.73 litres.

Come on Smed, put the petcock on and fill her with water (it won't rust laughing ). I reckon it might be a 10 or more litre tank.

It's a very cool thing - as I said, I've never encountered that tank. I've a real 'thing' for 'drop' tanks. Why carry fuel high, unless you want to make a 2t feel like a 4t???..... w00t

Here is my 83 Mugen. Tank is fiberglass, cost major $, and leaks. It’s getting coated soon to fix that. Brand new Ohlins rear shock and Fox Factory forks. Russel did the right side cover and I fitted a new impeller gear on the original shaft. Works great!

I assume so. this is the only one I've ever seen, so I bought it. It would be cool to know more about the history of it.
