Bought a dls front brake hub advertised to fit 81 to 84 125 250 500 won’t fit quite right because the angle of the stop on the fork has anyone got any ideas on what I need to make it work?

If you have money the lug can be reposition on your original fork leg.

Steve Denton on this site does it, in the UK.

I believe the 125"S did not get Dls brakes until 84, the 81-83 fork lug will be incorrect, you will need 1984 125 or 250 forks, Did you get the complete wheel or just the plate? Not 100% sure the brake plate will fit your 82 hub either....I have several RM 250"s that I put the 83 & 84 250 DLS brake setups on....they are better than the single pull but really not worth the effort to get them adjusted & working properly.....your best bet is to use the front brake as little as possible!

You will need the DLS compatible front hub and either modify your fork tube or better yet find a later 43mm fork and clamps with the lower brake tab in the correct place. There are two different backing plates also. One has a boss that the cable attaches to, the other doesn't and requires the other fork tube style that has a mounting tang integrated allowing cable adjustment.
Feel your pain as I'm setting one up now.
I'm going the most difficult route as usual, sigh.

Be warned the 1982 RM 465 43mm forks won't work either, ask me how I know... I'd look at online parts fische of anything I was planning to buy to verify it will all play... There is a nice complete wheel on ebay for a decent price if you don't want to lace a wheel.

I have all versions, 83 dls, 84 dls & 82 43 mm single pull...they are all slightly different & will not interchange .... There is also a lot of changes to the rear full floater system between the years & models that will surprise you as well. Swingarm lengths, rocker arm dimensions, strut rod lengths ....shock changes....I always assumed they were the same, but not so....

They don't call it evolution for nothing... I always wonder how many cigarettes and bottles of sake were consumed by overworked engineers at the big four back in the 70's and 80's! Had to be way different then versus the once a decade overhauls of nowadays. Thank god for the partszilla year usage guide.
