1982 Yamaha yz250 lower steering seal

I just picked up a 1982 Yamaha yz250 and am in the process of changing the steering bearings. I notice the lower steering seal is pretty rough. I believe the part number is 93107-30009-00 and is no longer available. Anyone aware of other options that will fit or sources to check for that exact part? Thanks!

If you can't get the oem seal anymore try a local or place that specializes in o rings.

Take the old unit to Bearing Services and they can fix you up.

OEM seals for that are very hard to find, expensive if you do find them. All of those bikes with the coolant routed through the steering head leaked. Many just end up doing a bypass with fittings and external hoses, eliminating the steering head passage for coolant flow.

Those seals are an oddball , leaving most bearing houses scratching their heads. Have heard of using two generic type seals of appropriate sizes, stacked, but not sure if it would hold under pressure from the system when hot.

Also, the steering stem must be near perfect for any hope of any seal being able to do it's job.

Thanks guys for the advice. I did some googling more and found some on eBay for $160...no thanks!

But I did find the size on another site...

I couldn’t find this particular brand but used the dimensions and located them on another site for $3.00 from http://www.avxseals.com. They seem to be the same so we’ll see.

I have been Collecting all the 81 YZ125, 82 YZ125 and 82 YZ250 hoses and radiators to manufacture them.

Ended up buying one radiator and a hose and they really mangled up the radiator to twist the fitting so they could run a long hose up to the top.

I am debating making a kit with both the radiator and different hoses that eliminates going through to top triple clamp.

Most have been using spacers / altered mounting brackets to utilize the stock radiator when bypassing the steering stem coolant routing. A spacer / bracket / hose kit may end up having a more desirable price point.

does anyone have a picture or link to a yz250/125 fork mounted radiator with the hoses run completed?
