I posted some hints about this under another thread, figured I'd post some pics.
Came across a complete, and decent 1982 RM80 last fall. They are kindof hard to find actually being a one year model.
Built as a racer restore to be raced this year at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. Not quite finished, still some odds and ends to wrap up but I think it is coming along pretty nicely.
Seat 100% original.
Powdercoated frame, swingarm, triple clamps, fork legs, shock spring
1990's style OEM front fender
NOS rear fender
DC side panels - actually look pretty nice!
sanded and polished the gas tank
OEM 2018 RM85 handlebars
all new bearings everywhere
rebuilt OEM crank
vapor-blasted and ported cylinder

Thanks!
If I stumble across any Italjets will let you know- loved the ones with the huge finned barrels- not many left but probably still a few here, just because we had a good main importer probably back then who raised the profile and bought a few in... occasionally see them here.
Did not realise that this 82 RM80- it was only a one year model- for some reason I remember the 1980 and 1981 Rm80 better than the 82 version, maybe that's why because it was only a one year model. Just looking at it reminds me of Bruce Bunch and that great era of racing we had back then that many of us maybe were lucky enough to have took part in.
I have an 1982 and 1980 I restored a few years back. Since the photo I did put the full floater decals on the 82's swingarm. Am still looking for the correct 80 decals that go beside the side panel stripes.
I pulled more holeshots on that 1982 then any other bike I ever owned.
Here,s mine 79 with a dg head and the thor swingarm
Here's a few pics of Mitch Zaremba racing my 82 RM80 to 1-1 at AMA Vintage Days.
He also went 1-1 on my 1991 RM80....
AND.... he also went 1-1 on my 1983 RM125....
For the #80 decals for the 1980 model you could get them from www.bdesigns.ca, he did all my rm80 1980 decals after I sent all my originals to reproduce them, I don't know if you have it or not but he did the cdi one in metallic backing too, the rear shock ones, vin decal and many more
Pit Row
His name is Brian, you could email him too if you have any questions
Tell him Martin from Miami sent you
I had a 1980 CR 80 when I was a kid and have recently acquired a good candidate for a restoration. I'd prefer to do this one up for display, as opposed to riding it.
Any suggestions before I dig into it?
I’ve got one for sale if ur still looking for one
I've been trying to send you a private message, but for some reason this site won't let me. Yes, I am interested in your little bike. Please respond to this if you still have it, thanks.
