1981 RM125X Brought Back to Life...
Greetings! This bike was saved in the summer of 2014. Already have a tale to tell... This was my re entry to things moto. Had no clue how cool this bike is... Again like the 85 RM125, it was B-E-A-T. Roached, is more appropriate. Did alot of work on it. Its not a museum piece, but a nice bike all around. Cutting to the chase, goes like hell. Very top end end oriented, but decent off the bottom too. Lots of power. Faster than the 85 RM125 for sure. 55mm bore. Fork seals, chain and sprockets 11T / 51T, Wiseco top end, 2003 RM125 Silencer, NGK Plug, new Cheng Shins front and back ( It had f'ing Barums on it so this is actually an upgrade ) brake shoes, side panels, front fender, tank decals, shock was pro rebuilt; got a work order receipt from the company, New control cables, clutch lever, kill switch, Oury grips, case saver, water pump mech seal and oil seal, fork rubber caps. All kinds of stuff. Respray frame. It has potential, as both bikes deserve to be brought to the next level. This bike is ridden also. I enjoy preserving these bikes. Its like therapy. Then you get to ride...☺ Been a fun bike to ride, except when i had to let go...Rebuilt it again and 6 weeks later my leg healed up, i went back to work and my wife did not divorce me. I bought the 85 RM125 the weekend after i wrecked. Neighbor, pickup truck, crutches, brace, mattress in bed, we went a couple hours south and got the 85. Since i wasnt working, i was in the garage alot getting " fresh air". Had a blast wrenching on bpth of em. I wasnt even depressed, except for work. That drove me stir crazy...My wife of 18 years was actually very caring and supportive. Kids, unless you are rich, you GOTTA have liquid assets to make a move with from time to time. Sold a 1991 Kawasaki ZX11 to keep $$$ cool. My wife appreciated that and it was the RESPONSABLE thing to do...☺
