I've heard it said before that LOP bikes were as good or better than factory Works bikes of their time.

Please tell us about your ride, it looks super trick.
Its all started with a standard bore and a modified framed 78 rm125 and was built using a NOS LOP head, NOS LOP swingarm and a restored LOP integrated pipe. All bearings, seals and cables were replaced throughout with OEM and has a NOS set of Simons forks and fresh 17 1/2 inch Fox airs giving it roughly 12 inches of travel. As far as wheels go, they were built using NOS DID rims with Buchanan spokes

That , and the FMF units were was the bikes to have back in the day. As good as factory and they held up. That head was a must have unit that was very hard to find.

It took 15 or so years to find the head

Fantastic looking bike, especially the LOP swing arm and Fox airs.  LOP was in my hometown, I almost bought one of Marty Moats' bikes they were selling, I backed out  cause I thought the internals were probably clapped out - damn I kick myself.  Are you from Waukegan?

I used to race but had to stop due to injuries. It was always a dream of mine too race a Giant killer but was never able to. In the early 2000s I got the fever to build one and searched every day for a swing arm. One finally surfaced in 2016 and by 2017 I had it done. I was able to locate a second swingarm and an LOP porcupine head in 2018 so I build another and had it done in 2019.

Waukegan ,iL. For those that don’t know it’s on the far north side of Chicago, near the Wi. State line.  Wi. Had the 1st auto race in the world. The 70,s Wi. Had the most 2 st experimenting from snowmobile manufacturering& racing. Everyone made a sled including Sears, John Deere, etc. not surprised the LOP team won the biggest race ever.  Televised live on wide world of sports , The Carlsbad 500 gp.  Marty,s win was the biggest win ever.  Kinda funny the LoP team was out of Chicago land.  But DGY & TUF r out of there too. DGY made a 91 yz125 fast enough to hv Doug Henry kinda similar too magoo - wild style lead motos.
