long time bevor I bought a Moto Villa 380. is a Italian bike. maybe some of you know Walter Villa, he rode HD / Aermacchi on street GP. later he produce Street-, MX- and other offroad bikes.
this thing was in good conditions, plastics, shocks and the carb was missing. of course, need a bit work, but not a big deal. I think.
but after months i cant find spareparts. so the bike moved in a corner and wait for better days.

but later.......

To me it looks like many of the plastics & running gear are the same as early KTM's and the motor resembles a Rotax so you might check that out.

I remember reading about Walter Villa, but never heard of his bikes. I don't believe they were imported in the US.

That looks like a very worthwhile project to me. Especially if you want it to be period correct and a rideable PV bike, rather than an absolute perfect restoration.

Good luck with it and post pics as you make progress .

Very cool! Can you tell us the origin of the motor? It looks similar but not exactly like any other that I can recall. Rotax or Ossa or ??? What did SWM use for motors? The bike looks similar to the SWM as well.

I had a 1974 250MX Moto Villa many years ago that I never did anything with. Rex Staten told me it was the worst bike he was paid to ride. I sold it right after that.

Maybe that would make it worth more, just like the 1982 YZ490 that everyone loves to hate, but wants in their collection anyway.Tongue

Looks like a neat odd mxer to restore. Motor looks similar to a Carabela.
good luck with it!

That is some crazy-looking rake on that bike.

Maybe that's why Rex didn't like it. I wonder if it turned....

I think the designers raked out bikes so they wouldn't shake their heads. Later to discover it was more about swingarm length and CG.

In hindsight, I should have kept it for a conversation piece.

I don´t want teasing you. just forgot to tell that the bike is finish. and I take some races with.
the engine is a MotoVilla engine. very heavy, but very strong build. the aluminium side-covers are nearly 8mm thick :-( . maybe build for another worldwar :-)
stay right now in a hotel and have a poor internet connection. can´t post more pics now. try later

Interesting Clutch setup. Nice work! Please post more pics!
The bike looks like it has a lot of suspension travel for a 1977. Whistling

Nice! The new shocks you built: What brand are those? What were the original brand? And length?

Also, It looks like the motor uses a flat-top piston. Is this true or an optical illusion? Cool bike and great looking restoration!

hi,

thank´s for statements. always like to hear if you like it or not. the shocks are original Corte&Cosso. lenght are around 370mm. not sure there are in the right lenght, but the bike feel very comfortable. think in this days there was many companys in italy who use this shocks. also Maico did.I find a webshop in italy for all spareparts.
the piston is a one ring flap top. is a original Villa spare part.
later I will post more pics. the bad news are that I lost many pics from my bikes if my old laptop are blowed up. but still find pics from my bikes in the internet :-)

Excellent thread. You do beautiful work, looking forward to seeing more.

I believe my '80 VF 414 Montesa came with Corte & Cosso shocks. No one that I knew of knew anything about them and they were stiff as a 2 x 4 board. I went with Works Performance and 30 + years later, they're still on the bike.

I'd be interested in learning if you got them to work properly, or not.

Again, thanks for posting.
