these bikes are so cool looking
Thanks for the info
BTW SRP, super jealous. Love those 75's. Prepare to pay for a tank; I'd be shocked if you get one in decent shape in the usual markets for under 200, and closer to 300 may be more realistic. That 76 is super clean; there not worth anywhere near the 75's, however. Maybe 3K to someone looking for that? That's a guess. The 75 360 can go for five figures when they are a 10 point.
I can make set of molds starting about 350 dollars for side panels and same for the shrouds ( then you would always have them ) I would need yours to copy them
I have been thinking of making vintage plastic
we do vacuum forming we could figure something out
Pit Row
Go Pro of my ride on a 1981 Maico 490 The beginning is a little dull but the end is cool I hook up with my brother wo is on a 1981 Husky 430 cool stuff great time
vintage race this sunday at central village this weekend I had no idea I may take a ride up to check it out
I have been looking for an NOS 76 Yamaha MX125C rear fender for years. Finally came across one,but it has a few fairly deep scratches. I can not find a 76 YZ / MX125 reproduction fender anywhere. The DC mold is not quite right for the 76 models, not to mention the matte finish.
Who offers a glossy ,OEM type fender for this bike, or who can work my NOS fender to remove the scratches, and put a shine back to it? This is a white fender.
It is the same process, the 'shot' that is placed in the mould would be a lot more expensive than a plastic 'shot' (about $30 per rather than $2), but the process is the same.
We were told that a good chromed steel die to produce a quality part would be about $30K to do about 10,000 parts. If you were going to do less than that, you could probably use a polished aluminum die that would be about $15K
You have to have a 300 ton press, which would cost about $100K. But there are a lot of places around (apparently) who would sell you press time for about $100 an hour, and the process takes about 40 seconds to make a part, so you could do a lot of parts in an hour.
But you would have to make a lot of parts to offset that die cost.
pressure forming molds are expensive even though we make our own
its all about quantity
Here's a pic of my 75 YZ360 I've owned for quite some time. I get tired of just looking at it so every so often I get it out and ride it. It runs like a banshee.
1975 YZ 360 only 1450 where made
these where for world wide from what I have been told
75 only 600 and change in the USA
