It seems ADV riding is really taking off right now. There are still a bunch of Harleys out on the road, but I am seeing a shit ton of ADV bikes on the road now days. Only in the last 5 yrs or so have I started riding on the street, but man is it a great way to get my fix when I don't have time to load up and go ride mx somewhere.

Congratulations, I don't work for nor am sponsored by, but Seat Concepts makes a really good seat for the 690.

And, http://www.rottweilerperformance.com/ makes some really cool stuff for the 690's that can let them breathe a little more freely.

Rubber side down.

I put a Rade Garage Dakar style fairing on my 690.... however, it is now in the shop... stock clutch slave went out at 350 miles... Sigh...

And ya... a lot of guys that would probably have bought a street bike in the past, are going ADV for 2020... the segment is growing like crazy!

Quinn Cody has been racing National Hare and Hound and District 37 Sprint Enduros on his 950r. Definitely a crowd favorite

Adventure/dual sporting has definitely exploded in the last year, even prior to Covid lockdown and people looking for anyway possible to escape and spend their money. And SoCal residents looking to do weekly group rides, check out flying monkey adventure riders on FB or I believe Jesse posts the rides on ADVrider as well.

Haven’t gotten out in a few weeks, last ride I did was out through some BLM land since the forests had been closed. Stopped by Cahuilla on the way home and spun some laps on the vet track too.

That bottom picture doesn't look too friendly for those unprotected dual front discs Blink How's it handle through those type sections ?

For as big and heavy as it is, I enjoyed it! Luckily the few rock sections we went through that day weren’t too long though.

This is my 2017 KTM 500exc-f that I’ve built to do adventure riding and a lot of dual sport riding. I also do straight single track to in New England and planning to go to the SouthWest. Just recently I put Race Tech’s Gold Valve conversion kit in the forks and Gold Valve in the rear which made a unreal difference! It soaks up everything so much better and combined with the steering stabilizer it handles great! It’s hilarious when I hear people say a 500 is too big on tight technical trails in New England! No doubt if I have it all loaded up and a full tank it has some weight on it but if I’m doing long rides I’d rather have more stuff with me than not.
When I have everything packed up I have a 2-3 person tent, 10 pairs of socks and underwear, pants, shorts, rain gear, blow up air mattress with rechargeable blower, thin rain tarp, 2 solar powered chargers, laptop, fold out chair, survival gear, water filter, axe, hygiene stuff, goggles, water, food, extra iPhone for gps and tire repair stuff. I’m ready for some long distance rides!

Did you not care for the 1290? Assuming you sold it by now?

1290 was a COW compared to the 790. I traded the 1290 for a 300. I think bike is up at Adventure Moto in McKinney Texas. Only had 5600 miles on it.
