Hey guys,
I have a 2018 RMZ 450 which is obviously a full blown mx bike. I may be getting old idk, but I have been enjoying more trails lately than I have motocross. My only issue is that the Suzuki is like wrestling a bear through the woods. I am considering redoing the suspension and adding a rekluse to the 450 that might make it more suitable for the trails. Do yall think it is worth converting over into a woods bike for should I sell it and buy something that's already designed for that type of riding?

So if money is no problem then I’d go with a new bike designd for the type of riding your doing!
Other than that have susp revalved, detune it some, 18” rear wheel, maybe a big tank,

With that said, I have a 2015 YZ250FX now and it is way better for harescrambles and it is completely stock minus suspension. I’m 6’2 205lbs and it is all I need in the woods. Electric start, 6 speed wide ratio, easy clutch pull, 18 inch rear wheel, incredible gas mileage, awesome suspension....
The Shop
I had a uncorked 2015 WR450F for 1 season when i got back into riding. Bike was absolutely terrible for me. Fighting it constantly, never got comfortable on it and it flat wore me out.
Replaced that with a 2017 YZ250F which i kept for most of 1 season. I had a 06 YZ250F back in the day for woods and this was better out of the box in every way. 10x better bike than the 450, left it 100% stock outside of protection. I didn't wear out nearly as quick and was much more rideable in the woods. Enjoyed it but got the itch to finally try a 2 stroke.
Picked up a 2018 Beta Xtrainer 300 and sold the YZ. Power like a 4 stroke, but all the perks of a 2 stroke. Suspension was much softer, and IMO better out of the box than any bike i've owned, which is the exact opposite of most reviews you'll read on this bike. The transition from the 450 to the 250F was almost as drastic going from the 250F to the 300 2-stroke. It's just a much better tool for what i use it for.
