My laptop is old and takes 5 restarts each time to get started now. Lol I want one that is good for trading and gaming. I am considering this one but wonder if there are better options.
That`s pretty much what I use right now, only it`s MSI brand and my video card is 16 gb. For gaming you need to look at at least 8 gb videocard. https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GF63-Thin-9SC-066-i7-9750H/dp/B07QF66YQB
Lenovo is my go to brand. Love it. My other laptops are all Lenovo.
My dad just got a new one from Costco, also MSI like Kongols posted, he got a smoking deal, they were like $250 off last month, take a look there. He has a 1tb storage drive + a 512 SSD for the O/S. Pretty nice machine, i set it all up for him.
I don't need a new one yet, but since we're on the subject, what are some recommendations you guys have for an audio recording laptop? The processing requires a lot of RAM, especially when adding lots of inserts and effects per track on a multi-track song. I'm guessing something like a gaming laptop would be good, but maybe there's an even better category. I don't need much "storage"; maybe only 400GB. However, the machine has to be fast, with a lot of memory. Any suggestions?
I hate all Windows based laptops. Always laggy and clunky acting after a while. I finally quit using them except for my employer provided unit that’s a hunk of shit. If I have to buy another it will be a Mac.

I think you`re visiting too many virus infested porn sites.
Never had problems you speak of. After two years my laptop is as crisp as new.
We use HP ProBooks, HP EliteBooks and HP ZBooks at work and they are all pretty awesome. Get you one of the docking stations and hookup two monitors. All pretty straight forward.
I've had an HP Pavillion for like 6 years and it still fires up and works like it is new. I haven't had a problem with it, not 1. Except I flew to Mexico City once and went to open it in a meeting and it started updating. That sucked. But I think it is 17 inch screen, touch screen which I think is tits. I'd recommend it any day over anything I've ever used. Including Apple. I paid $88.00 for it at Staples after cashing in my credit card coupons for staples.
Thanks for the suggestions. Probably going to order something today. I am on my 3rd HP envy now and want try something new. Hey Kongols will that run MXsim no problem?

It runs newest COD no problem. Never tried MXsim, but I figure it shouldn`t be problem.
I just looked at what MXsim needs and it`s childs play for MSI I have.
HP elite book. Look for professional grade rather than consumer grade. They are made better and have professional operating systems installed most of the time.
I've actually never owned a laptop , but want one. Probably for different reasons then what you all posted above.
I'm mainly wanting one for entertainment in the evenings , when I'm out camping and so forth. I need / want something with a large HD , but also able to work with a small plug in projector. ( I have a 40" projector screen in my camping rig ). Been using my Moto-Z , with the projector add-on , which actually works incredible! Only thing is , I can't store enough music and movies on my phone.
Any good suggestions on something that may work as a good entertainment type laptop for me? Anyone ever use a projector hooked up to one as well?

Well , I can't do that in my little camping van haha. Have to have a projector screen. But other than that , I'd like to pick up a good laptop , with a lot of storage. Doesn't need to be super fast I guess? unless maybe if I want to play a game on the projector screen.......hmmm?
So from reading the replies here , it seems HP and MSI both make some pretty good laptops? Any other brands I could look at? Or maybe buy a small mom and pop built gaming machine? I always have my gaming and HTPC's built buy the same guy. So I'm kind of used to the non-brand name computers.

We have a commercial 390 inch projector we hook up to the MacBook and all our external hard drives filled with movies.
If the Moro parks have powered sites we take it camping it’s overkill but awesome...
MacBook all day everyday over microshit windosent, we got tired of the slogan it’s a feature not a bug
I run a tax practice off of an ASUS, 17" it has a hybrid drive system. SSD for startup and apps then a HDD for storage, I had run Toshiba's for years, but I have been swayed. It is actually a high end gaming system that doesn't have all the graphics on the case and keyboard so it looks professional.
It gets worked hard for 3 months out of the year and as needed the rest of it.
1060 is hot garbage and that laptop is way too overpriced for the specs listed. Find a laptop with the new ryzen laptop line of cpus and for the gpu try going for a rtx 2060 or 2070.
The MSI that kongols suggested just arrived yesterday. Actually got a lot of good comments from my friends about this model so as long as I can trade and play mxsim I will be happy. Going to set it up today at some point. Thanks again for the tips.

This guy knows what he is talking about. But I am partial to AMD Ryzen processors, since I work on the design team that created them!
Man its great so far. Thanks for the tip. I have been pretty busy and I am having issues with our internet so I have not seen its full potential yet. I really screwed up when I had to have FPL run all new power to my house recently because it runs through salt water and was corroded and my house would flicker and was a real issue for awhile. I wish they did the phone line at the same time. Power has been normal for awhile but our internet works fine until about 11am then can't watch YouTube or stream games until about 9pm. Its like the heat makes something expand and short the incoming wire from the pole. I have an appointment with CenturyLink Friday. I imagine they will be running a new line from the pole. What a pain.
Nice. So far mine takes any abuse I throw at him with ease. Newest Call of Duty works flawless. Never thought laptop can take it. This is my first serious laptop.
FL.....were you mainly getting this for business , or for entertainment? I still have no idea what to get.
I really wanted something that would safely run a trading program like TDameritrade's Think or Swim and powerful enough to play games like MXsim etc. I have not done much on it yet but this coming week I will put it to the test after my internet situation is handled.
