it has to be a little bit bigger than double over head for me to sit on the beach.

I tried to at Myrtle Beach a couple years back and couldn't do it. Of course the waves were only about 1.25" high. I tried for 2 days and finally said fuggit.

I surf when I get the chance. I love it! I'm not scared of big waves at all, but I sure as hell wouldn't try those without the proper experience.

When I was your age larger waves didn't bother me either. Between living in OK and the fact that I only get to surf about 12 to 15 times a year makes me more of a wuss.

The fact that I am 52 doesn't help much either.

I'm 6.5 hours away from my favorite break Beacons in Leucadia, I only get to go out 2-3 times a year. Head high is my range these days, that and my wife had to help get my fat ass in my 4-3 on the last go out in early November tells me something about my fitness. www.wavewatch.com has live cams and they're free.

Go big or go home.
Isn't that the idea?
I used to surf every day when I lived in Lakewood but I haven't been on a board in 17 years or so. Even then I think I would have passed on breaks that big.

Where in the hell has Horndog been?

I was able to surf the first time I ever tried it. it is more addicting than Heroin. I would stay in the water all day when I went. I almost moved back to Encinitas to grow and surf before I bought the track. If I could sell it I would move tomorrow.

Saw some footage of Peehai (Jaws) this AM, pretty intense. Ever time they start saying a swell is going to rival 69, I want to vomit.

I was on vacation in FL when I was younger. A big storm was in the gulf. I was just deeper than my knees and a big wave came and smashed me to the sand. Felt like I was hit bya truck. New respect for waves from that point forward.

T'is a mushy wave that isn't exactly humbling, very fickle to swell direction and tides, it walls up, close-outs most of the time but......it's not crowded between bamboo's and Grandview or south to Stone Steps. Thats why I like it. I dont get to my feet as fast as I used to, I'm 50 and out of shape, dont surf for the snaps and barrels. Now it's about the glide, cross stepping and drop knee turns. Yep I like Beacons.

Yes. I lived on Clark Ave just about 1/2 a block from the college. My friend Marty would pick me up every morning at 5AM so we could surf for an hour before school.

That's why we've got Ho'okipa & Jaws...

Surf when it's good...cross the Island to the channel-side and Paddle-Board when its flat.

I'm jus' sayin'...

My last two years of living in CA I lived in Downey just off of Imperial and Brookshire.

I can't imagine what it would feel like just sitting out on the shoulder of one of those bombs.
